I may not be the one who deleted it, but to help answer your question, the image (which I used the source sites provided to view) does not give enough visual evidence that it contains a furry character. Visually (which is the tagging policy e621 uses, "tag what you see"), the characters involved appear human, and in order for an image to be acceptable, there must be at least one highly visible, easily identifiable non-human character primarily involved.
I understand that the characters involved aren't human, but the people who handle the deletions are pretty strict as to what gets accepted and what gets denied (and as of recently, the admins ruled that unrealistic skin tones don't count as "non-human"). Hopefully I explained well enough why it wasn't accepted.

Pretty much this and you can read more about this here: https://e621.net/wiki/show/uploading_guidelines#humans
If skin color were acceptable deviation, we would have tons of simpsons and steven universe here, which are clearly not on sites focus and which are mostly humans on human looking humanoids - which would count as human on our tagging rules. The post in question is going really close that line.
If it's directly connected to some other relevant post, e.g. it's part of comic, that would be acceptable. I see post #1224880 was put as parent post, but this clearly has no direct connection with deleted post at all.
So just saying that I would've most likely done the same in this case.
