Topic: Deleted post help

Posted under General

So a recent upload I did where I edited a dick on a previously dick-less image was deleted for not meeting quality standards. Is there any way this was a mistake or are these kind of edits not tolerated?
I'm not meaning to be rude in any way I'm just curious since I spent a while on that edit.

It was probably a bad edit. I can't really say anything beyond that without seeing it.

As BlueDingo implied, bad (low quality; minimum effort) edits can be a reason for deletion. Alternatively, your upload was bad in of it's own, like if it a worse resolution than the parent image, suffered aliasing or loss of quality apon editing, I've personally had problems with backgrounds not cooperating when editing transparent images (for personal use, they are not on site), et cetera.

Ask the janitor who deleted it for an exact reason why it was deleted, or provide the edited image so we can critique. Otherwise, the blind is leading the blind here.

It was a jpeg converted to png then back to jpeg then back to png.

Aaaaah alright. Well if I uploaded it again in the original jpeg format would that be alright? I was unaware the formatting had flip-flopped like that while I was editing.

You should probably try and grab the absolute original form and go from there. Much less flipflopping from there.

Keep the quality as high as you possibly can. If the source material is JPG, work losslessy and saving losslessy in between steps if required, then either export as PNG or 99-100 JPG.

This particular situation is already pretty bad as artist seem to have uploaded the file as PNG, but let furaffinity downscale their image with tons of red, so it's already pretty compressed image and they don't seem to post elsewhere. DO NOTE THAT FA FILE IS JPG, EVEN IF IT SAYS PNG! Of course you could ask nicely if they would upload their artwork twice to FA to avoid FAs downscaling and/or PNG file directly for you or here, so there would be zero compression with your edit on it.
