Topic: deletions based on file size??

Posted under General

I need an admins input on this, and fast!
can a post be deleted if it is the same res as another but has a slightly larger file size?

Filesize isn't used when determining superior vs inferior.

well then why have my pots been deleted in the pasts based solely on file size? I feel like there's kind of a double standard here

filesize =/= resolution ; quality =/= filesize

Looking at your last three deletions, starting from the most recent:

One deletion was because your post was a duplicate.
Another was because the one you posted was of lesser quality than the other.
The last was deleted because the version you posted was a sample and not the full resolution.

I suggest learning the differences between image quality, file size, and image resolution as these terms are not interchangeable.

File size is how many Bytes it is.
Image size is the resolution, pixel*pixel.
Quality refers to things like artifacts that happen when an image has its size compressed (which happens with JPGs), or the blurs that may happen if an image is upscaled (even if it was previously that size, and only got upscaled because it was previously downscaled).

Once again, I will ask, was this the actual reason or was this simply you playing detective and coming into this conclusion.

Because there has been so many users like this, in the end it usually ends up in situation that filesize was indeed not the factor for deletion and that the post was deleted as being simply inferior - as in it was worse in visual quality.

Also with kurodood uploads, after they started posting under 1280px uploads, their furaffinity and inkbunny sources are identical. In cases of identical dupes, the later uploads are deleted as such - no inferior but duplicates.

Also, I'm here, so if you need any clarification on any flag or deletion regarding quality, just poke me in some way and I'm more than happy to explain stuff. Also never flag posts as inferior with each other, makes handling flags extremely annoying and more prone to errors.
