to put it simply and without going too off-topic, i really wanna make this comic thing that i have a lot of ideas for.
buuut... there's one issue: i can't draw. i have a drawing tablet and drawing software but i'm not very skilled at the art.
so i'm pretty unsure of what to do. do i just hire someone to do it while i give them the general outline and have it pretty much assured quality, or do i try my own hand at it and have it be a pretty risky move if it turns out well or not? or do i just ditch the comic idea entirely and make it a story? but if i were to do that, where would i put it?

i wouldn't expect someone to work for free; that'd be silly. but i'm certainly inexperienced in payments so i dunno how hard it would be.
but there's always the other two options, doing it myself or making it purely text are the riskier bets though.

Just open a paypal and link it to a debit card, even a disposable prepaid one works.

How about you draw what you are thinking of, post it to an image sharing site (such as imgur), then post a link here in this thread so that we can judge its quality and give constructive criticism. I would not recommend an inexperienced artist post their practice here directly through uploads, as there are minimum quality guidelines. I would hate to see you get disheartened if your work didn't meet the guidelines.

Same, I have thousands of lines of ideas saved but don't have anywhere near the skill I need to do them justice. If you decide to do it yourself it'll definitely be a big time commitment, but IMO don't be afraid to take shortcuts. They say you need 10,000 hours of thoughtful study to master something like art, but if you focus only on what you need to get your ideas out there you can save a lot of time. In my case, figure drawing is a huge focus but I don't really need to know how to draw a tree, or a great texture, or realistic lighting. I could get pretty good in things like gesture and anatomy in, what, several hundred hours? Maybe up to a thousand to get the rest of the composition somewhat decent? Much more manageable.

That's the philosophy I've been going on, anyway.

Nothing is free
not if the person is bored and nice enough
but that's rare.

not if you can trade or pay for it.

Or just write your story then get art skills later on

It's not that hard to commission someone. Post in a forum or contact an artist you like directly. Paypal is really easy to use and if the artist works through invoices, you won't even need to make a paypal account. Sketching out things you want can be helpful if you're attached to specific imagery, there are a few people who draw out what they want and then pay someone to draw it in a more polished style. Don't expect a discount on it though.

It depends on what sorts of ideas you have as well. Good humor or storytelling can carry a comic further than good art in many cases.

I usually just commission someone to do or make something for me that I need that I can't do myself like artwork, music or quality logos.

Hold on to that idea and never let it go because one doesn't have the skill to make it come to life.

Since you already have the tools and the program, I suggest making the best out of it. Learn some basic online drawing courses and try your hand at it, best you can get out of it is that it's in your own view.

If you simply can't draw, then writing a story about it would do. But you must have great writing skills if you want to garner people's attention to your story.

Or if you want the easy way and have large sums of money laying around, you can just commission an artist to draw it for you. Risk is that it may not turn out to be what you had in mind, or the artist turned down your offer/story.
