Aliasing light_fury → night_fury
Link to alias

Reason:

While the term "light fury" made sense when we had no confirmation during the initial leak of the new 'fury, it makes sense to just call the new Nubless a nightfury since, they are actually the same species.

-1. Director Dean DeBlois used "Light Fury" in an interview, and the official trailer has Astrid calling her a "Light Fury". These practically officially establish "Nubless" as a part of a different species that's similar to Night Furies.

Considering the series' use of scientific reasoning, it does make sense for them to be different species. A Night Fury has dark scales to help it blend in in the night. Of course, they wound up being a bit too dark, which allowed Hiccup to spot Toothless among the stars, but it stands.
Nubless on the contrary is pure white. She'd easily stand out at night, so she can't be a night fury. She'd be able to blend in among clouds, or in snowy regions. Hiccup may choose to name her a "Snow Fury" or something, with Light Fury just being a nickname to avoid spoilers.

night fury and ligt fury are different species, also light fury is the official term, not fanon term.

They have different coloration and different anatomy. Could be sexual diamorphism, but since we do not have real world genetics or observations with which to study night and light furies, I'd say they should be separate species.

(I also don't ever thing it'd be revealed as diamorphism, as I doubt we'll see flashbacks to toothless as a little gray or white hatchling... and if we do see a nest full of toothless babies at the end of the movie, It'll probably be a mix of black and white babies, rather than an indeterminate 'hybrid' color.

I would also argue that in the case of sexual diamorphism, that it's not really a case of "Vixen" or "doe"... as, to be blunt, it's only a matter of time before someone lights a male lightfury-sona or whatever

I know we aren't suppose to use outside knowledge and stuff here but in the AMA with the director he stated:

"The Light Fury is a species name given to her by Hiccup and Astrid. We deliberately didn’t give her a personal name, because we wanted to keep her wild. She isn’t a night Fury, she’s a variation of the species with her own traits and abilities. Unlike toothless, she is not the last of her kind."

Similar to how Meatlug and Grump are in the species class (or foxes and wolves if we wanna get realistic), the lightfury and nightfury are under a similar category and shouldn't be connected directly like that. If anything they should be grouped under a 'Strike Class' with the Skrill and Snow Wraith since that's where they all derive from in lore. But for tagging a tag like that is kinda useless imo.

Can we have a link to the AMA?
