Aliasing femshep → female_shepard
Link to alias

Reason:

I've noticed that both tags exist on this site for the same character. If you're unfamiliar with the Mass Effect trilogy, the default for the customisable player character Commander Shepard is male, but the player can choose to make them female instead. The female version is often referred to as "FemShep" by the fanbase. The tag should also implicate commander_shepard as well.

Is this even necessary? Why not just merge them all together? Commander_Shepard is Commander Shepard.

having tags for both of them and then imply them to commander shepard would be better because they are still technically different characters and people might want to look especially for male shepard or female shepard. i mean we already do separate the tags if same character has multiple distinct canonical forms, why we wouldnt do so here?

I'm with Furrin Gok on this one. I don't even think "FemShep" should be a valid tag. We don't have a "FemFrisk" tag or "FemChara" tag. Commander Shepard doesn't have a "canonical gender", the male Shepard is just the one shown in the trailers and box art because he's default. Dragon Age 2 has two distinct gender defaults with names (Garrett Hawke and Marian Hawke"). Skyrim has a default dragonborn, but he isn't the "canonical" dragonborn. This may require more discussion.

Like who? If they have distinct names like "Red" and "Lyra" from pokémon, then that's different since they're named differently.

Male and female Shepard have a default canon appearance, so those are taggable. We could make some tag like commander_shepard_(default_female) for those. That would also make it possible to exclude custom Shepards from searches.

But tagging any female Shepard as femshep? No. Tagging any character by gender would set a bad precedence.

That sounds fair. Default appearance of female shepard or male shepard could also be crossgendered.

John Shepard and Jane Shepard are the defaults from Mass Effect 1.

Also, for an example of a different tag for a different form, god_of_hyperdeath is a specific form of asriel_dreemurr. Both use the same name.
