Wouldn't it be a good idea if we have an upvote/downvote arrow on the answers we get in the forums? Y'know, if they were helpful or just plain stupid?

That would only turn threads into vote-mongering bitch fests. The purpose of the forum is just discussion, so people can just say "I agree" and "I disagree".

By the way, we have a thread for suggestions.

I remember bringing this up a while back, hoping to make it like the comments in that sense, but I don't remember the reason why they choose not to.

I'm not a fan of it. I think it's a lot more useful when people are forced to actually express their opinions using words. Especially when discussing things like possible alias/implications, site policies, etc. I could see it work for blips maybe. But I think the forum works better when people actually type it out. /two cents

I'm against that idea.

Believe it or not, people actually take how they are voted seriously. If they are downvoted, they will either: rage about being downvoted then say that voting in forums is a bad idea or they will get depressed because absolutely EVERYONE is downvoting their comments, even though it only has a -1.

If upvoted, they will either: get really cocky and think they are always right because EVERYONE agrees with that person even though he has a +1 or he will acknowledge the vote count and will not change at all, proving that he is an agreeable person.

I couldn't be more against this proposition.

If it was implemented I probably wouldn't care, but I wouldn't vote for the idea either.
