The current wiki entry is depressing.

I am trying to rewrite the 'buffalo' wiki, however since bisons are also included in this category (and they probably shouldn't be) is really difficult to spot characteristics shared by these species, except for being large bovines. Actual buffalos have short fur varying between grey and black color, have large curved horns, have physical build somewhat similar to cattle, but bisons on another hand...

Who had the idea of implicating 'bison' to 'buffalo', and most important: why?

That is just painfully stupid. Might as well call all foxes wolves then since it's about the same kind of assumption. :v

The colloquial tongue does not typically equate foxes and wolves, but it does very often equate possums with opossums, bison with buffalo, spiders et al with "bugs", etc.

Point being calling two different genera the same thing is dumb no matter what it's in reference to. Guess users should be glad I'm not the one who determines the species system here because there would be a lot of angry laypeople.

Yeah, I think we might benefit from fixing up the species classification from the roots, and simply provide better wikis on site to help laypeople find their way through it. Most of the confusion I've seen can be addressed in a single sentence somewhere at the top of the corresponding wiki pages.
