Topic: Questions Regarding DNP

Posted under General

just a couple questions I had about the DNP list...

number one: what is the main reason artists ask to be put on the DNP list? is it shitty comments on their posts? people posting their stuff without permission? or maybe they just don't want other people to post their artwork

number two: has an artist ever decided to take themselves off the DNP list? How would something like that work? would all their art suddenly come back, or would it all have to be posted again?

number three: what would it take to convince an artist to take themselves off the DNP list?

and number four: Can we please get a DNP list for either characters or character owners. there have been so many times I find something I want to post, I check to make sure the artist isn't DNP I make sure it's not pay content, I make sure it hasn't been posted before. and then I post it only for it to get deleted because "character owner requested removal". wouldn't it make things simpler if certain character names were on a dnp list?

heres ones i can answer:

1: common reason tends to be that people simply dont want their art here
2: yes. sometimes uploads are restored, sometimes their art is simply allowed to be posted again. the art cannot be reuploaded however.
3: depends on person

This might answer your 4th question.

It wouldn't hurt to ask for permissions from the character owners/commissioners before posting their stuff, they paid for it after all.

Also, like the others have stated above, you have already asked this question before - forum #256483.

We don't do character DNP because it'd be nearly impossible to enforce with all these character trades, sales, adoptions, remakes, renames, redesigns happening to them. And on top of that the fact that people create new characters fairly often and the amount of character owners far outmatches how many artists there are. Characters also sometimes look slightly different when drawn by different artists, and sometimes aren't explicitly credited at the source either. This makes it much harder to recognize a character from a person that is DNP but is drawn differently thanks to stylistic differences between different artists.

TL;DR: We aren't Microsoft and won't release a half-baked product.
