Topic: Accidental downvote comments

Posted under Off Topic

I have to ask: is changing your vote on a comment a new feature, because i’ve seen a lot of not TO old comments in the style of ”oops, accidental downvote”I did it a few times and I just pressed <upvote> to fix it. Nothing important really, just curious :p

Updated

Originally, comments only tracked whether or not you voted on something.
The newer system keeps track if you voted it up or down. In fact if you have any old comments and you try changing the votes on it, it'll tell you that You cannot change/remove your vote because it predates the comment vote change system..
According to git, this change was made on Jun 22, 2016, but may have went live a few days after that.

Yep, prior to about 2 1.5 years(?) ago, comment votes couldn't be changed. Comments written prior to then still can't be changed because the system literally doesn't know if they were upvotes or downvotes, it only knows they were "voted". Another change to the comment score system is Admins can now be downvoted (but negative scores still display as 0).
