Aliasing babydoll → nightgown
Link to alias

Reason:

(Or vise versa) - Though technically they are different articles of clothing, people are basically using them as the same thing. So I guess we could either alias, or go threw 1200 some odd posts a retag properly.

errrrr what?

Babydoll is a vague as hell name.

*I* know it as a formfitting t-shirt with (often) short and snug sleeves. (I think I hurt my name double taking at this thread title, lol)

It can also be a formed of sexy underwear, and that is defined as a sleeveless loose fitting nightgown that sometimes has cleavage cups, with a loose fitting skirt with an end between navel and upper thigh.

There is nothing about the 'open front, slit up the middle' design pictured.

Have a look at the wiki

The "split front" design is a variation on the sexy underwear Babydoll. --kind of like skinny jeans and regular jeans.

also a nightgown can also be other things: post #1689878 post #1682734 post #1139590

SO.. sum up...

4 different things:

  • Female-cut t-shirt
  • sexy nightgown with a short hem
  • Same as above, with a split down the front
  • a small doll, possibly haunted.

I feel that babydoll -> nightgown alias is illadvised.

An implication may be alright.

There are a lot of inconsistences in the Lingerie department in general.

Negligee --is the precursor to a babydoll, just much longer (knee-to-ankle) at the hem--has many babydolls in it.
a Chemise is the same cut as a babydoll, but tighter at the hip. Usually. Yet there are some knee lengthed negligee in there.

And i could go on.

but the jist of it is that people don't know what the fuck this stuff is called. They know half of the words, then tag the one that seems the most 'right' to them. c_c

ugh. I"m frustrated and annoyed now. I need to stop.

I heartily disagree with aliasing babydoll away. It would be like aliasing sweaters away to shirt.

-1 to the alias idea. That's a tagging project and it doesn't make a good alias in any case.

I think I'm just going to stick to tagging and uploads, forum suggestions don't seem to be my strong suit.

Pssh! No way!

You're doing fine!

This shit is complicated! Seriously. I'd say about half of the suggestions I make are flawed in some way too.

But here's what your flawed suggestion did: It made us have a look at night gowns and sexy underwear. We've realized there are problems. IF we're lucky, one of us will go and fix things up. :) Maybe we'll work on the wiki pages. It's all godo stuff, even if an alias or implication doens't happen from it.

seriously, by the wikis? this should be a pretty uncontroversial adjustment. Just, the wikis are a bit wrong, because this is a specialized place of knowledge.

Your viper_(artist) alias was totally reasonable -- it's not YOUR fault that dude is using an INCREDIBLY generic username.

Your ginger tag is also pretty reasonable -- even if you picked invalid_tag rather than disambiguating it. Seriously, we get about a dozen posts a week giving us a long list of tags that need disambiguations, or clarifications and things. NO WORRIES, this was a GREAT alias suggestions!

Seriously, you're doing FINE. please keep posting man :) I get excited whenever I see more aliases and implication suggestions. Discussing this stuff is FUN for me :)
