How do you double post a friggin' topic of all things?! Were you just hitting 'post' like a spasming monkey?

Anyhow. Yes, I adore the Thunderbolt. Titanium bathtub go!

Just these. I'm not really an enthusiast, but I like these. I made (with a lot of lack of skill) a model of the SR-71

A-10 warthog, no contest.

Aww, yeah. I knew someone else out there loved the A-10, other than EB up there. :)

I enjoyed flying the BF-109 Messerschmitt in Il-2. Too bad it's real life counterpart has problems with take-offs and landings. For more modern military planes i'd say either the A-10 or the F-22. I don't know a lot about choppers, except that they are way cool.

Weird topic, but what the hay.

- Anything WW1, particularly the usual Sopwith and Fokker suspects. For the Biggles thing, and because that's when tactics were being made, and because it's a bloody wonder the things stayed together in flight.

- Crazy-arse huge Russian ground effect prototypes on the Caspian sea.

- The Bell H-13 / 47G for M*A*S*H reasons, because it sounds like what a chopper should sound like, and because it did well as a civvy helicopter.

Ah yes, the Bell H-47 Sioux. A great helicopter for a simpler time. Thanks for posting.

Hughes OH-6. For being less armored than the people riding in it.

Lockheed P-38J. Because it was a crazy idea that actually worked out very well.

Oh, the Lightning. Lovely design; 1942 was a fun little game.

Forgot to mention the de Havilland Mosquito in my list. For the sheer variety of random crap they managed to shove into the thing over the years, being made out of balsa and plywood, and famously annoying Göring.

I've always been a Starscream fan. :P

Okay, in all seriousness: The Lightning and the Fokker Dr.I are my favorites.

Whatever the ones in post #41929 are.

More seriously, the Blackbird is an amazing feat of technology, and it just looks incredibly cool.
The A-10 ("Warthog") is badass. Amazingly tough, and it will fuck up just about any ground target.
I'm also fond of the AC-130 (you got your artillery in my air support!).

Those are MiG-29 "Fulcrums." You have an excellent taste in military aircraft, my friend. ;)

I'm in agreeance with most of these aircraft, but one that hasn't been listed that could have changed an entire war is the German ME-262 jet fighter. I have huge respect for the German military during WWII for their technological advancements. :)

My fave has always been the F-4 Phantom II. At one time, this used to be the workhorse of all branches of the military and was the aircraft with the highest production run. I'm not sure if that last is still the case, though.

*nods* to the A-10 and the SR-71 as well.

Late to this party but, actually, the grey one is some version of the F-15 Eagle, and the blue one is what I believe to be an SU-27 Flanker, or something similar.

Hate to push a mega necropost, but I'm in ROTC and aiming to be a pilot myself.
