Topic: Tags in the Transformations category regarding a change in species

Posted under General

There are a lot of TFs out there and not many of them use the species_transformation when it can be obviously applicable. We, as a community, should try to implement this tag in the future and add it to the old ones.

it kind of redundant considering this is a furry site after all. so most transformation would revolve around turning into another species. if anything we should start focusing on the specific transformation tags.

for example feral_to_anthro is extremely underused and it think the reason behind it is simply because it not very memorable. another one is anthro_to_human which again fall should short from my basic "what to tag" list

then we have other tag that should be reviewed like takeover which focus on a suit taking over vs possession which talk about ghost or magic.

plus their several other not even listed in the transformation wiki like forced_transformation which again seem redundant since im betting most transformation weren't voluntary.

Something being a 'majority' doesn't mean that we shouldn't tag it. Actually it makes it a good candidtate to tag--or tag the absence of (ie, volunary_transformation or whatever) so thjat peopel can find it, or the absence thereof.

Something being poorly taggeed at the moment doesn't mean it should CONTINUE to be poorly tagged, either.

Why don't we collect together a list of all of the appropriate transformation related tags at the moment and make it a point to bring the wiki up to date and apply the tags to as many pictures as possible?

Until recently, transformation used to be just a giant pile of unsorted posts. All of the *_to_* tags (and several other subtags) are relatively new, which explains why those aren't widely tagged yet.

And there's a whole lot of other things that could be tagged.

I had been thinking of adding a subtag for self_transformation, that'd cover posts where a character transforms self by choice, regardless of how it's done (magic, science, etc). But voluntary_transformation sounds like it might work too, since so many transformations are accidental.

Speaking of magic and science, those seem like potential subtags: magical_transformation, etc. Even though the cause of transformation is often impossible to determine.

While back, I tried to make a new umbrella subtag for size transformation, size_transformation. But I found surprisingly few posts that clearly fit in that category. Might not be worth keeping.

The various *_growth and *_expansion tags could use a good look. Some wiki entries make it sound like *_growth is for growing new body parts (such as breasts, or a tail). but most of it is just existing parts that are growing in size. And the base growth tag is a mess, full of inflation and other unrelated posts.

Maybe those could be neatly split into two:
- growth and *_growth for growing new body parts,
- expansion and *_expansion for existing parts that are growing in size?

let move this to forum #250603

When I use the transformation tag I see a large mixture of things I was just wondering if we could just try being more specific when tag these things
