Topic: Why does cleavage imply clothed?

Posted under General

The tag "cleavage" automatically implies "clothed?" But why?

Admin edit: Fixed topic title. Please use descriptive titles in the future.

wiki says:
"Cleavage" is not to be tagged on an image if the character is nude, as cleavage is to be expected.

Does that answer your question?

Also, try to avoid non-descriptive titles or "clickbait" as it's often called. Something like "why does cleavage imply clothed?" would be better.

For the first point: No, it really doesn't. I mean, it answers the question I asked, but it doesn't answer the question I intended. It explains the given reason why cleavage automatically implies clothed, but not the logic behind the reason: You ask anyone if they consider a naked chick standing out in the open to be showing cleavage, they'll say no; because cleavage implies you're just seeing the tops of the breasts and/or the valley between them, but cannot actually see the breasts, themselves. So I can think of PLENTY of ways a girl could show cleavage, but not breasts, while actually being totally nude. Wrapping a towel around herself, holding up a blanket, leaning against a partial wall...all kinds of options. There is absolutely no reason why the cleavage tag should automatically add the clothed tag.

As to your second point: Yeah, fair enough, that was my bad.

Women only have cleavage when the breasts are actually somehow supported and pushed up, that's why push-up bras were invented, after all. If a character is nude, even if they have a towel around them, their boobs shouldn't show cleavage in the first place.

However, if a character's breasts are squished or squeezed together while being naked their respective tags should be used instead (breast_squish & breast_squeeze). The outcome is similar, but the way it's achieved isn't, thus we use different tags.

Ah, I see. Okay, that makes sense. Thanks for explaining!

There is one issue though, pseudo_clothing cleavage. In some of these posts, characters aren't wearing any actual clothing, but some part of their anatomy causes cleavage. A good example is the below post, a shell isn't considered clothing, is it?
