I'm not talking about quality of images specifically when I say this, but tumblr is a terrible source everything. There are way too many old tumblr source links that show up as "this account no longer exists" or just a missing page. Between censorship from the site's own staff to artists purging all their content at the first sign of criticism, it's just too unreliable

Artists mostly seem to use furaffinity, twitter and tumblr for their stuff, all of which are prone to nuking and banning you for silly reasons, all of which pretty much destroy the artwork you upload to them, all have massive flaws that everyone and their mother are aware about, but everyone keeps using them. Single forum thread with semi-clickbait title isn't going to change this.

Just the other day had to deal with artwork being available from FA, tumblr and twitter, all had issues of their specific platforms and tumblr was still the best of those :|

At least tumblr is indexed with things like wayback machine and direct image links never die and general image quality and handling is still lighyears better from furaffinity, so it's still one of the better sources like it or not. This is also one of the many reasons why always keep 404 links intact especially if you cannot provide new working ones and always have artist, submission and direct sources.
