None of you probably remember this, but remember back when I had a thread about my brother openly talking about furries in front of my parents and trying to bait them into talking about it/trapping me?

Well, my brother partially spilled the beans a few days ago (not on purpose, dad threatened to take phone from him in relevant conversation), and told my father about e621.net .

Guess what? My dad went onto this site. On my iPad. Which means I was logged in.

I learned about it when he picked me up from work that day, with my brother in the truck.

My brother gave me a look that told me "you're fucked" as I got into the truck.

My dad started the convo like this:

(D = dad, m = me, b = brother)

Dad: so I went on your ipad today and there's this website called e620 or e600 or something on there

(Brother gives me that look)

Me: okay

Dad: and I saw some stuff on there that you should not ever be looking at

Me: ok

Dad: want to explain this to me son?

Me: (lying) that's some website I think, that my friend posted a link to on Facebook saying it was a funny joke picture site, and I tapped on it not knowing what it was, and then I saw that and i was like, no, ew, and I closed it and haven't been on it since

Dad: mhmm. And all this about fur or furries or something

(Brother gives me that look again, I want to strangle him)

Me: I have no clue what you're talking about

Dad: (doesn't really believe me) ooookaaaay son if I ever find out that you were on that site, there will be consequences

(Brother still doing that look)

Me: alright

TL;DR

So my dad kinda has an idea of what furries are, but only has seen the NSFW side (e621.net) and both my brother and dad tease me about it.

My brother still constantly does that thing when something comes on tv, and another girl was on tv, and she was overweight, but not too fat, but I was like ughh nasty and my brother (with my dad right behind us) said, half yelling, obviously trying to get my dads attention, said, OH IM SORRY BECAUSE ITS NOT AN ANIMAL OR SOME WOLF YOU DONT LIKE IT, RIGHT? I think people forget we have a sfw side like e926.net. (For anyone who doesn't know, it's the same as e621.net, except it shows only the posts rated 'safe'. You can even log in there using your same login info as here, I think. And any URL is the same, so you can view the same pic on either site by changing whether the URL says "e926" or "e621". Sometimes I think we should have the link prominently posted somewhere so that more people know about it. Maybe on the main page somewhere right next to the mascot, there could be a little link that says 'or see our Safe For Work sister site: e926' or something similar to that. I know I tend to forget it's there. But more than that, I suspect there's some people who'd use it if they knew, but they don't realise we even have it.

If your dad is a reasonable sort, just tell him that it's "something [you're] into right now" while also trying to reaffirm his belief that you are a normal enough human being, resuming life as if nothing remarkable has happened. The plan is for him to buy into the trope of "it's just a phase" as a compromise between what he wants (i.e., you to be "normal") and the more likely reality (i.e., that you weren't on e621 by accident).

Some people appreciate that ambiguity whereas others don't handle it very well, fixating on the worst perceived assumptions. Therefore, you should use some tact to determine and establish a comfortable level of ambiguity that curtails the more damaging misunderstandings without volunteering unwanted details (i.e., TMI). Again, he probably just wants you to be normal, so demonstrate that you are when he or your brother challenges your normalcy (i.e., you'll be put into a few situations where they will keenly gauge your reaction, like the TV incident). You may have to be the adult in this situation for the both of them.

Also, if I were you, I would tell your brother to "stop being an ass," in your own unequivocal language, the next time he tries perpetuating some bullshit in your father's presence. It's important that your father witnesses the exchange to, at the least, empathize with your situation, because he probably knows that you're right. If you pull it off, you may get your father on your side. Your brother will probably continue causing trouble for you until he matures, and even then... so it's important for you to keep him in check as best you can. If your brother tries to escalate the situation further, don't take any of his bait--only reaffirm what you've already said before--while he makes an even bigger ass out of himself. If you two have your father's audience, your father may ignore your brother from then onward after his foolish display.

How's your blacklist? Is it possible he stumbled onto some nasty shit, even by normal, straight furry standards? It might be advantageous to directly ask him what he saw, get the explicit details if his description is vague, get him to tell you why he thinks it's wrong, and then you have the opportunity to (1) agree with him, (2) remind him that it's not real and his fears can never come true, and/or (3) challenge his views (e.g., "why is it wrong", "is that really so bad", "so what if I/people look at it", etc.). Even better, tell him that you don't like X aspect that he picked out, which is hopefully true, but that you also really don't care or aren't bothered by it (i.e., lead by example). That's a gamble for his acceptance. Many people aren't strong enough for that line of questioning, though, as interviewer, recipient, or via internal dialog. You may be able to put this behind you by maintaining your composure while he cracks or drops his judgements out of discomfort.

Very last point. If they're at all technically inclined, they may know your username and be reading this thread and checking your history.

People usually see the bad side of everything... Even if you show somebody something as simple as a leaf or a flower, they will point out what is wrong.

Just because an image is rated safe, as on e926, doesn't mean it isn't sexual in nature, it just doesn't show any naughty bits, but scantily clad pin ups and other images can still get a safe rating.

Those are generally mistagged, since as https://e621.net/help/ratings says, sexually suggestive poses are not safe. There should be nothing sexual on e926, but admittedly a lot of it still end up there. So it's probably not a good idea to go showing that to your parents...

Yeah I remember when i was playing MMOos a lot my mom forced me not to play because she saw cleavage.
