Topic: Cub posts not being tagged when uploaded

Posted under General

Especially seeing as they are tagged as such in the sources. Lazy posters/taggers are getting quite annoying when I continually see blacklisted items.

If the person uploads cub with any amount of regularity, the easy solution would be to politely ask in private.

I would just report them to a mod and let the mod warn them. Honestly I've found interactions between users on the same level to be less than productive. A lot of times they just kind of REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE out and get all offended that another user is "telling them what to do" (no matter how politely the initial request was made).

As long as they're adding four tags, it's not reportable.

Really? I would consider that a pretty essential tag. I mean if I just started posting mountains of furry scat, and left the scat tag off every post that wouldn't be an issue? That would just be OK?

Yes.
That's why we have dedicated taggers to make sure things have as many applicable tags as possible after a post is made. Honestly, it's probably better in general that peeps add fewer correct tags on upload rather than adding lots and lots of possibly incorrect tags. It's a lot easier to find posts that are lacking needed tags than posts that have incorrect tags.

Do your bit as part of the community and tag it yourself so it benefits yourself and everyone else too! :)

That's fair enough, but it's not the issue being discussed. They're bothered by seeing the content in the first place, due to the negligence of the poster.
Tagging it afterwards doesn't erase it from their memory.

...that's just tough for them, then. If you want your blacklist to work, work to tag the pictures you don't want to see.

I wind up using the "Edit Tags" mode from the post list so often to try and fix it, because I too hate that they aren't being tagged.

If someone is leaving specific tag out, then all you can do is notify the person to maybe take the tag into consideration in future uploads and fix the tags yourself. Leaving out tags isn't in itself rule violation where false tags are.

If you have data that you have notified the user about their tagging and they are deliberately leaving tags out, especially content like cub, then report the user and admins can take a look at it.

Wait, there's a way to edit a picture's tags without even clicking on it? How did I not know about this...

This is the kind of feature that in most cases will not make sense to use, as you cannot see if what you are tagging actually applies to the post. After all 150x150 thumbnail can be misleading sometimes.

Once or twice is a mistake.

Repeatedly can be considered malice.

But do not attribute to Malice what can be explained with ignorance, or incident. Everyone is new sometime.

POLITELY ask people to remember to take controversial tags. (Hey, On post #XXXX, you didn't tag 'cub'... I've added it, but you should try to remember to tag it in the future! :) or Hey! On post #XXXX, you forgot to tag cub! a lot of people want to blacklist that, so you should try to make sure you tag it! :) I've added it for you already! )

If you absolutely cannot message them... well, your only other option is to ask someone else to message them, which doesn't really save you from having to messae someone.

but shit, accidents happen. There are a huge number of posts that should have 'penis' tagged but don't because people forgot. accidents happen.

I think this is the correct answer. If you've asked them politely and they refuse to change or they react with hostility then it doesn't really make sense to allow them to carry on knowing that they are being maliciously lazy with tagging important tags (this is especially true when dealing with things like character, copyright, and artist tags).

Why force taggers to correct something the uploader themselves could much more easily address? Better to solve the problem at the root than just pass the buck to this cadre of "dedicated taggers".

Oh no yeah, of course not. But I was just surprised that such a thing exists.

It is useful in some instances, and if I'm contacted about false tagging, I'm sure tge staff will understand on things like cub or disemowelment. Sadly you can't add a reason this way, but it does let you identify the id of the post to find the original poster and message them.
After all, it'll be the post in your own tag history that says +cub.

It should be when you can literally go to jail in some countries because of it.

Don't use the page in those countries then.

So ruin the site completely for many people because some are too stupid to tag

No, don't place yourself in legal or physical danger by using the site. That's just totally on you, not because people are not tagging specific things, but because tagging is not infallible to begin with, and is not likely to comply or conform 1:1 with whatever requirements there are for this legal or physical danger.

Kira sums it up pretty well, plus, I know *at one time* that the blacklist just HID offending pictures from you-- it still loaded them up on your computer. I don't know if that is still true,. but if you are AT RISK of getting in SERIOUS TROUBLE because of something like this, don't mess around.

Yeah, that's not something you should mess around with. I know someone who got in trouble because his name was on the internet bill and he couldn't prove that it wasn't him. (Protip: Secure your wifi.)

If I could offer some input, some of the time it could be that the uploader doesn't think they are cub or young despite TWYS because artist style can intend something different. For example, I recently posted something that has been on furaffinity (which doesnt allow nsfw cub) for about 3 years without being taken down and found today that someone tagged it as cub/young after I put it up on here. I have a cutesy style, so I'm not going to argue with more experienced users on this site when it comes to TWYS.

But yeah that's just my perspective that the intention might not have been malicious.
