Topic: The whole Japanese censorship complaints ticks me off!

Everytime when I find some explict Japanese artwork, I see a bunch of people on the Interet acting like Japanese censorship ruins everything good to them, whether if it's joking or not. I'm not defending the censorship, but honestly, this whole controversy about it pisses me off.

Updated

it can actually ruin the mood for some people, and some people are simply joking since usually the censorship is very ineffective

Yes, I know, but I just find it childish to be honest.

Then they can blacklist censored. Whining about it gets tiresome, and some uploaders have stopped uploading censored art because of it. Which is a shame, since there are users who like those.

I think it should fall under the 'complaining about things you can easily blacklist'-rule. And as far as I can tell, it already does since couple of users have got records for that. It just needs to be reported more.

Please make your subject line one that doesn't require us to click before we know what you're talking about. "Irritated over Japanese Censorship Complaining" would have told us what bothers you without us having to look.

As far as the censorship itself, you're going to have to find a way to get over that, because people aren't going to stop complaining.

Well, it's not just e621, but there could be any other websites like E-Hentai or something, I don't know? They could be everywhere!

I was wondering, could some people purposefully complaining about censored art as part of a trolling shtick?

I can't think of any titles I can use.

Also, I just noticed that the title has changed. Thanks, I guess?

I mean it's understandable that they are complaining. I don't mind censored art and in certain cases even prefer it over uncensored edits, but those people who honestly complain probably look for explict artwork, and if that explict part of the picture is censored, then that's the whole pic ruined for them.

I usually don't bother reading through comments and I don't really care about their opinions as long as I like the actual picture.

I did recommend one. Don't know who changed it, though. I don't have that authorization.

Definitely agreed with you. While mildly annoying admittedly, I have pretty neutral feelings towards it. In fact, I'll rather go for this as well, because frankly, I don't like uncensored edits personally, unless if it's done by the original artists.

I'm tried to be quiet about it, but the hatred is so unpleasant to the point of overstatement that I can't take it anymore. Whether it's mosaics, black bars or white outs, they tend to lash out quickly because they find it ugly. What's up with that?

Sorry for the long reply, because I have a hard time thinking before posting it.

Not to mention when someone complained about it, some people just up-voted for them? Am I mad, or so are the people?

Also, I changed the title.

It actually does piss me off considering there are ways around censorship. I see plenty of artists on Pixiv who post uncensored content...the top image will be a crop or a censored version and then the other image(s) underneath will be uncensored. Basically some Japanese artists are going out of their way to provide us with uncensored, and I consider the others to be too lazy to do the same...so it is a bit annoying. I would love to get more information on the matter however...maybe they feel like they could get into serious legal trouble so they avoid it...however I have seen some pretty major artists post uncensored so it can't be all that bad.

I don't usually post comments on image boards about it...who are you talking to? The uploader of the image? Wasn't their idea to censor it...completely retarded to bitch at them about it. I'll usually politely ask the artist if there is an uncensored version available if I really care about the image.

Just the complaints in general.

And as for the other one, I don't know if I can do it for several reasons. How do you do it? E-Mail? Is there are any artists thay can provide uncensored version to people they care? Tell me.

Some artists have still had admins contact them about doing this and told them to remove the uncensored version.

Those usually aren't Japanese artists if they do that first-second image trick because non-Japanese don't really face any problems if they get caught besides getting penalized by Pixiv. Pixiv is also pretty random with who it decides to smack over their rules. It's easier to just censor it and be done than have to worry about any legal issues or backlash.

Too lazy to get in legal trouble, of course.

Don't know? I've seen some Japanese artists uploading their uncensored artworks on various sites not hosted on Japan, like Twitter for example.

Exactly...many Japanese artists do this...making me think there is some sort of loophole in the law where if the image isn't stored on a Japanese server they can't come after them. That's what makes me call artists who don't post uncensored "lazy"...if it's really as simple as simple reposting your art on a different website then that's lazy.

I don't know if it's lazy or anything. Twitter has plenty of censored artwork as far as I've concerned. Other sites like Fur Affinity or Inkbunny don't have that much and even allows them to publish their uncensored artwork. I'm no expert so I don't know.

Some areas of Japan have repealed the law, but since Pixiv is for "the whole of Japan" they still have to keep the rule.

And most people find it childish that it's a *law* to censor genitals, especially when the censor required is so small it's entirely ineffective.

When you're complaining about people complaining you may be getting too far down the rabbit hole and might want to start considering getting out of that scene because you should be enjoying yourself when it comes to porn, not focusing on such petty issues.

It's real easy to just ignore these comments and enjoy the art for what it is because it takes no effort to not look at them. Where as it takes energy and effort to not only read them, but also get upset over them, and then want to comment on them.

You don't need this stress, trust me. No one needs this sort of stress. Just let it go and enjoy yourself. <3

Regarding the censorship, you also must remember that some people in Japan espcially find the censorship exciting, because that's part of what porn IS for them.

As it's been said, they could be using their blacklist. If they're complaining about it in the comments, report the comments. The 'use the blacklist' rule is not just for people complaining about gore and cub.

no one will get banned over this, unless they've already earned several negative strikes on their account. So don't feel bad: just report.

Interesting, but not surprising. Though there are some Japanese artist who are likely unhappy with the censorship.

It's like every countries have different values.

That *is* why I said *some* people in Japan. A statement of some people doesn't mean all people. Even a statement of "many people" doesn't mean "all"... <3

Like.... There are places where women generally do not wear shirts. (off hand, some african tribes, but africa is a very large place with many people in it, so, ahem, not all african tribes and not only african tribes) ... these people tend to find the western obsession with breasts to be weird. To them, those are for babies to eat and are otherwise just... part of a woman.

To contrast, in Korea, for example, girls often wear short shirts. Shorter than an american girl would, for example. But showing one's legs is not really considered to be socially unacceptable. They, instead, find showing the shoulder and cleavage areas to be sexy and scandalous.

In this picture Picture B is TOO SEXY to go out in public. but picture A is fine.

Isn't that weird? :) But it jsut goes to show how our culture can change us. :D

Uh? Well I mean, we tend to take action against around a dozen people a day in various forms. have a look ... I'm pretty sure anyone can look at our active tickets too -- where you even see that someone has already been scolded for complaining about censorship.

We take our reports seriously. :)

Interesting. Seeing that most of the complaints are English-speaker, I wonder what does most people from western countries really think of the censorship law, and so does the Japanese.

Fair enough, but like I said before, this site isn't the only place where some people can't stop whining about the censorship. If you look at some other porn sites, there are certain amounts of people who said the exact same thing. I've been seen so many of this guff before, and this makes me annoyed.

It sounds like you don't understand why some people dislike censored art. I'm not sure I can help you understand if you don't already. But I do want to chime in that yes, this is a thing and no, it's not just trolling.

Many people look at porn because they like to see dicks and pussies and nipples. When these things are blocked or distracted from they complain. That doesn't make it right, but I hope you can see now why it's understandable.

On e6 there's a rule against complaining about something (like censorship) that users could just blacklist. If you see a comment like "I hate black bars" you are encouraged to report it. That said, please do not go to uncensored posts to comment that you don't like them. That might annoy people the same way complaints about censorship annoy you, don't you think?

You are correct about that.

Of course they probably came here just to see explicit stuff just because we happened to posted explicit stuff before, but uh...

And yes, I apologized for my hypocrisy because I was never been so incensed by uncensored edits in my life, unless if the original artists did it.

Nice sleuthing, but...

I still hate the censorship to this day and would love for it to go away. I just recognize now that there's nothing we can do about it. The only thing that can help is a change in Japanese law, or an increase in lawless artists. I don't think we actually want Japanese lawmakers to examine this topic closely, because they are more likely to throw in a loli ban than relax obscenity requirements:

While some of the content in manga and anime featuring minors in sexual situations might be shocking and attention-grabbing, Kanajiri and other campaigners I spoke to told me that for now, they are focused on more important battles to protect real children.

But she tells me she hasn't given up hope of a ban on contentious manga and anime.

"I want to make it disappear," she says. "By 2020, when the Summer Olympics will take place in Japan, we have to turn Japan into a country which people don't call a perverted culture."

It's a description which supporters of manga strongly reject. But as the Olympics approach, outside eyes will turn to Japan, exerting a powerful pressure for manga and anime to be part of what people see as "cool Japan" rather than "weird Japan".

creative_censorship, while it can be disappointing, at least can add something to the image. A mosaic or block censor is more like JPEG artifacts. Information is being lost, which should be considered a sin on an archival site.

No hypocrisy: Nothing conflicts with my statement "The complaints aren't going away anytime soon." Almost everyone who looks at .JP porn will have this reaction at least once. I also made the statement because I've seen this kind of forum thread multiple times. The forum threads will not reach the eyes of noobs complaining about Japanese censorship.

This took so long to finally post, eh?

This is the Internet. People like us can do whatever they want. If you really hate that annoying censorship and wish it will go away, then why not running a campaing of your own so you can accomplish what you always wanted? You sure do care more about the pornography than the actual effort that most artists worked so hard, eh?

That said, nothing we can do indeed. This is why I still remian neutral towards it because of that. But people like you make me upset.

Complaning about mosiacs and black bars seems a bit petty, to be honest. If there is anything worse than that, it's going to be uncensored edits by other people, but that's just me.

We all do mistakes. I can understand that this isn't hypocritical. I just thought it looked like one. I've also made a hypocritical statement once, as I said before.

Funnily enough, this video almost sums up my thoughts about the whole situation I'm dealing with.

One angry gamer is an far right news source. They have used a number of slurs to refer to the non-right. They are not unbiased, or even moderate. They have equated including lesbians in games as a form of terrorism. :P

The comments section is likely to be an echo chamber of people yelling about how the left wants to steal their pornography, and their guns, and whatnot.

This is not a balanced news source, and I honestly do not advice using them as a source of information.

It's impossible to find a news source that does not learn left or right by nature, however, this is more of an extreme perspective.

Lance's article about Japan's censorship was written back in 2015--as are most of the articles I have seen written about this. The jist of which are "a political party in Japan is interested in banning Lolicon/shotacon" and goes on to talk about anime and manga, as well as real photos of real 5 year old children posing in real skimpy clothing and how REAL child pornography was banned in 1999, but they got around that by just covering the child's genitals, until very recently.

And I"m sorry, I don't beleive anime or manga should be censored, but the moment you bring real kids into this, fuck you. That shouldn't be allowed.

Real kids are still being exploited. Banning anime and manga would be a "nice bonus" but they're focusing on real kids right now. and that was in 2015 and I can't find much anything newer that isn't crying about hte falling sky. Literally I saw one article talking about how there would be no more fanservice by the time the Olympics came around. Tha'ts.. hilariously incorrect.

That article is about how some people would like to achieve a goal, not the imminent success of that goal. One can say they want to weigh 100 lbs by 2020 all they want, but it doesn't make it happen.
