Topic: Someone just deleted a post for no reason?

Posted under General

ok, so I had uploaded something about 8 hours ago and "someone" deleted it and then reposted it 5 hours later. keep in mind that both our posts were the exact same res and are completely identical. is this aloud? can someone just go and delete a post and then repost it themselves?

Judging by the fact that your image was less that 1/4th the size (870KB to 4MB) of current version I'd guess that the version you posed was a shitty jpeg or something.

but I did exactly what I always do when uploading tumblr pics... it even said the res was 1240x1748. how can an image that is 1240x1748 be smaller than an image that is also 1240x1748?...

I don't understand this site...

ok I see what you're saying... but why did it turn into a jpeg? and how do I get images from tumblr without downloading them as jpeg files?

The 1280 version is 870kb, raw is 4mb despite both being the same dimensions. Always find the best possible version and assume nothing because websites like to compress everything.

Edit: and I would recommend using direct URL upload instead of saving to your PC to upload. In all of my 3860 posts I've only had it break once as far as I remember

That seems to be a new issue with tumblr. The first link Blind Guardian gives also turns into a jpg file when I save it, but the url clearly marks it as png. So that's definitely some fuckery with tumblr, and not a fault on your end.

Another reason why we need an auto-rawifier on the upload form.

This just solifies the fact that users need to try and fetch the raw version at all times, even if in some cases samples are identical this is also giving more work when hashes don't match and users get confused why their raw uploads are getting deleted as identical when they though of helping.

Don't worry. One or two deleted pictures are not a big deal <3

It sounds like a lot, but since you have 1033 posts that's actually only a 8% rate of deletion. Not bad :) And your post limit is pretty high!

you upload limit is 91, so your count of deleted uploads is insignificantly low compared to your upload count. you need to start worry about your deleted uploads only if your upload limit gets near zero

And I've got 74! It's not a big deal. what *is* a big deal is when you keep makign the same mistake over and over again and never learn from it. :)

Is from the head honcho and he's distinctly said it's not your fault. <3
