Nightingales are birds.

Is it exclusively for the bird?

The Nightingales are also a faction inside the thieves guild in Skyrim (more precisely they're worshippers of Nocturnal but close enough).
They have a very unique armor, weapons, and an emblem associated with them that might be used quite a bit on Elder Scrolls related images.

On the one hand, it's a total of three posts, 1 of which is the Elder Scrolls armor. On the other, in the long term wouldn't it be better to disambiguate that? Between the current nightingale and something like nightingale_(skyrim)?

Yeah it's be better to disambiguate it and then have "nightingale_(species)" be the species tag, implying bird. Similar to kiwi_(species).

I'd say be as clear as possible and make it nightingale_(bird), but I agree on disambig.

We seem to have a fair amount of precedent to use _(species) as the suffix.
