It would be a way to avoid avatar duplicates and an easy way to find a user name if you only remember the avatar though.

That second point could be a nice idea, but yeah, there is no way you could know who else has which avatar, unless you bump with them on the comments section...

You could always suggest it on the Feature Request thread. I've sometimes wished we had something like this, just for curiosity. I think it was even discussed once in the forums as a possibility but apparently it didn't happen. There's no harm in suggesting it on the actual suggestions thread though. See what happens.

I know it's not implemented as of yet or even in any sort of planning phase, but I had an idea that was basically "post #XXXXXX avatar:true" on the user listings, I don't really know to computer all that well so this is just a shot in the dark.
And you could use the listing of users who matched the avatars in question, you could narrow down your search.
