Doesn't really work either way. There are various types of nightsticks, whereas tonfa is a specific weapon.

Counter-suggestion:
Alias nightstick and police_baton to baton, implicate tonfa to baton (and possibly rename tonfa to side-handle_baton first, to make it easier to tag). Then implicate baton to club_(weapon).

If that's too specific, then I suppose aliasing all of baton, nightstick, and police_baton to club_(weapon) is an option.

Wait, that's what a nightstick is? I figured it was a glowstick to be seen at night, like they use around halloween time. Looking around, I'm the only one who came to that conclusion though.

I basically suggested it this way because tonfa has more results than nightstick. Searches and tags will result the same regardless, though.

nightstick is a disambiguation page of sorts that says to use either tonfa or police_baton. So why is tonfa aliased to nightstick when a nightstick is one type of tonfa?
....

Currently
tonfa (4) aliases to nightstick (211)

with wiki nightstick saying

See:

Which does sound like it is suggesting people change tag from nightstick to police_baton OR tonfa (but changing to tonfa pointless as it aliases back to nightstick).

Also,
tonfa implies to club_(weapon)
but nightstick doesn't imply to anything.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nightstick is a disambiguation page that says

Nightstick or night stick may refer to:

  • Baton (law enforcement), a compliance tool and defensive weapon used by law-enforcement officers
  • Club (weapon)) , a short staff or stick wielded as a weapon

...

  • Nightstick (Transformers), a character from the Transformers franchise

There is nice wiki at police_baton

A stick-like weapon, like a modern version of the club. They come in several different styles. Some are short with a loop on the end, meant to loop around the wrist and keep it from getting knocked from their hand in a fight. Others can collapse down to a shorter size and fit easily into a holster on the police_officer's belt.

While baton weapons could be wielded by anyone, they are closely associated with police officers. Both because they're often issued to police for use, and also because some countries prohibit anyone else from using one.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baton_(law_enforcement)
says
"A baton or truncheon is a ... club .... It is carried as a compliance tool and defensive weapon by law-enforcement officers, correctional staff, security guards and military personnel."

Since others use these batons,
how about aliasing police_baton to baton_(compliance_tool) or baton_(tool/weapon) ?

I was going to suggest police_baton alias to baton,
BUT there are other kinds of baton:
1) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baton_(conducting)
( 12 posts tagged with conducting_baton )
2) there are the batons used in relay races
3) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baton_(military)
"ceremonial baton ... is traditionally the sign of a field marshal or a similar very high-ranking military officer,"
4) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baton_twirling
3 posts tagged with twirling_baton
5) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baton_sinister (heraldic, probably won't come up much)
6) the aforementioned https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baton_(law_enforcement)
7...) etc

Perhaps baton should alias to baton_(disambiguation) ?
