I tried to add choking to a post and it implied asphyxiation to it as well. I believe this implication should be removed.

The wiki entry for asphyxiation details:
A condition in which one has a severe lack of oxygen, to the point where the body can not function properly. Posts with this tag show characters who apper to be suffocating, drowning, or in any way not being able to breathe.

Choking does not necessarily amount to that first sentence. A firm hold on the throat is an image in lots of sexy works, but the person getting it is not turning blue or about to die - just getting their air restricted a little to feel dominated and excited. Asphyxiation is too severe to automatically apply to this.

Also, choking is listed as:
The act of choking a person.
It could be via deep throat, or other means.

I really think it's only 'choking' someone if you're using your hand or something around their throat. Stuffing your fat horse cock down someone's throat to the point that they are having trouble breathing should be gagging, but there is no such tag. **Edit: apparently gagging IS a tag, it's just not on the wiki. it is now, but I still the the description of choking should be changed.

Further confusion on choking is that it can mean either the act of making someone else able to breathe, or the reaction of being unable to breathe - but the way the description is written it's clearly meant to be the aggressive act.

Interestingly throat_grab is a tag, but is seriously underused.

neck_grab is more tagged with 370ish posts...

I would have expected hand_on_x since that's the standard, but those weren't tagged.

Edit: looking into it, x_grab is the standard for one character interacting with another, so I suppose that does make more sense here.

I think 'grab' sounds a little more violent. I guess 'choke' isn't a friendly word either, but it's more appropriate. I see 'throat grab' and I think of Batman. WHERE ARE THEY???

I think throat_grab and neck_grab should be aliased to 'choke' and 'choke' should be separate from asphyxiation

We generally try to keep tags consistent with each other. So, as Furrin said, the tag for interacting with someone else's body parts is x_grab ... breast_grab means someone is holding another person's breast. Penis_grab means one character is holding another's penis. While it does sound violent, it is consistent with everything elses :) even if there are some funny ones like nipple_grab, or face_grab.

On the other hand, when you are holding your own body parts: holding_breast, holding_penis.

Hand_on_breast, for contrast is.... supopsed... to be for any hand on any breast. Hm. *scribbles on notepad*

A-anyway... throat or neck grab would be the most consistent with our posts.

That said, perhaps there SHOULD be a tag for a 'gentle to rough grip on the neck of a character that does not seem to be causing any form of distress or asphyxiation, but that would require someone to go through the choking tag (1072ish posts) and make judgement calls on all of 'em.
