+1 for consistency. File types are searchable, so there's no reason to have a tag just for webm.

It might occasionally get mistagged for longer videos, since not naming it 'under 30 seconds' means that the users have to check the wiki. But hopefully that won't get too bad.

+1. Easier to work with than a longer tag with an inequality sign in it.

Aliasing <30_second_webm → short_playtime
Link to alias

Reason:

A simpler alternative to <30_second_webm that isn't restricted to only one file type, along with matching the current alias of >30_second_webm -> long_playtime.

Please don't, I'm not just saying this because I pioneered the tag, but because we've had this discussion before. Long/ Short are too subjective to be tagged properly

It would probably be better if the alias was reversed

Edit: You could easily remove the "webm" part at the end and use it for all files, I only put the tag on Webms because the file itself tells you the playtime

Oppose. "short_playtime" too vague, in my opinion.

If it must be aliased, how about
<30_second_webm → fewer_than_30_seconds
or video_shorter_than_30_seconds

(went with "fewer" instead of "less" because
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fewer_vs._less )

the simplest way to do this would be to make it into <30_seconds, add more words and people won't tag it as much

It/they could always get an alias like bvas.

No, the simplest way to do it is short_playtime. If that's too vague for you, then long_playtime is too, and yet everybody's done just fine with that in place.

We've had people who constantly tagged gay instead of male/male and never realized that the tag was aliased that way, so I'd say the suggested alias up top will work great for this, and those smaller tags should work great as shortcuts as well.

At least I remembered this situation correctly, forum #257715

We are already using high_framerate and hi_res. Both values are determined on the wiki like it should be (≥48 FPS, ≥1600×1200) and not in the tag itself, because longer tags means harder to remember, easier to misstag and takes much longer to type in.

Also the other variation was already aliased to long_playtime and has been for really long time now, meaning it's now even easier for regular users to even just guess the countertag being short_playtime.

Well as long as it's in the wiki there shouldn't be a problem. nvm then, +1
