Topic: Hard filters

Posted under e621 Tools and Applications

Some tags are grouped, such as species and artist and copyright; the system knows these things are special.

How hard would it be to rig the search so it automatically filters out any special tags that are NOT the one you typed in?

For example, if i do a search for "+fox"m the search would omit any pictures with species tags that are not 'fox' or aliased/implicated to 'fox'.

It could be useful if someone is looking for something extremely specific that's not a solo shot.

So you want it to find only images that have canines in it when you search for "fox," but automatically excludes domestic dog breeds, cats, fish, etc?

right, you'd type +fox, and it would know that 'canine' and 'mammal' species tags are okay, as well as things like 'fennec', but it would exclude 'wolf' and 'feline' and all other species tags not put in the search.

It would also be useful for looking for certain copyrights when you don't want your search to include crossover images, or art drawn by your favorite artist of their own characters without seeing them drawing other characters or others drawing their characters.

You'll have to check how many tags are chained first, but that's already searchable with fe. spectags:3 fox.

(Sidenote: that type of search is pretty handy for tag scripting: spectags:3 cat -anthro -feral -humanoid -taur for missing forms, etc.)

Useful, but not really common knowledge unless you study the whole 'post options' sheet carefully. Also, this option would cut out any post tagged as 'fennec' or 'tibetan_sand_fox', unless 'spectag' knows to include implicated posts. If I change it to spectag:4 to account for this, then i'll get other canids in my search.

Adding in this '+' functionality to automate the whole thing and recognize the implications would be nice.

The world needs more tibetan sand fox porn. "Uhhh, honey, are you enjoying this?" "Yes. Can't you tell by my face?"

edit: a really useful, uh, use of this would be '+mammal' for if you really only want furries with fur.
