Topic: RIP Cheese Grater Image

Posted under General

This topic has been locked.

After over 11 years of burning many a furry's eyes and becoming the most downvoted post in E6 history, the original artist has at last requested a takedown request. Why the artist felt the need to request the takedown over a decade later, the world may never know. But at least pure innocent eyes may be saved from the horror of that image now.

Updated by KiraNoot

The artist's name is cbee an their reasoning for the takedown is:

"It's old, it's ugly and after ten years, no one really needs to see that picture anymore."

He/she has also deactivated their FA.

This is a sad day for America, and for the Free World.

The end of an era. What will become of us. Oh gawdy.

p.s. the second most downvoted image on the site is Munkelzahn's profile pic.

The grate picture
†09-09-2018

In memory of a grate meme

RIP to one of the most cursed images on the site

Updated by anonymous

This is the greatest gratest tragedy of our generation.

Updated by anonymous

This also means that the most disliked image on E6 now is that atrocious 9/11 image, which in my opinion is much worse.

Updated by anonymous

That image was a national treasure and should be preserved.
What the hell, artist?

Updated by anonymous

You can still see the pic on other sites if you want to but did you also know cbee (the guy who who the cheese grater pic) also did the original Krystal sandwich meme? If anyone remembers it lol

All we can hope for that this is like the Slurm plan from Futurama. Take away the cheese grater, make a new terrifying image and call it New-Grater. Then, when everyone hates it, bring back the old-grater image, and call it Grater Classic. They'll make millions.

You know that episode was based on New Coke, right?

"Well, now, that all depends. Do you want New Coke, Classic Coke, Cherry Coke, Diet Coke or caffeine-free Coke?" -Carolyn McAdams, Flight of the Navigator

Edit: While I personally won't be mourning the cheese grater of nightmares, I deeply mourn the loss of post #87031, as well as its non-colored parent, post #330.

That joke was based on New Coke. The episode was based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. But yes, I am aware.

what we need is tribute pics
preferably with diapercubs and/or ponies

Updated by anonymous

I'm genuinely surprised that that was even allowed to stay on this site.

When people tell you fascism isn't on the rise, point to this takedown request

..why it wouldnt have been allowed? it didnt break any rules and it filled minimum artistic quality standards

There are a few: cheese_grater, but we could always use more.

Seconded. There was nothing wrong with the image.

You may dissa-"brie" on this one, but that was a "grate" image. I personally had grown "fondue" of that. I can never forget how "gouda" it was. No bleach powerful can "roquefort"-get it off our eyes.

Pretty tragic how we lost both the cheese grater and the original upload of the vaporeon blender image in the same week.

I'm clearly years late to the party. What exactly was this Cheese Grater image that made it the most downvoted image on e621?

If it's so liable to fry one's rains, is there a chance someone could help me understand... With a word-based description?

Updated by anonymous

All of Cbee's work got removed, not just that one?

Dang...

Yeah, it's enough to make a person bitter. In particular me, because I've defended cbee's work in the past. I guess if it's all for nought, then there's no point in doing so in the future.

I'm just going to go sulk now.

description

A younger (but adult) raccoon, ass up, weight on shoulders, with a gaping anus, blooddy and ... ruined. Above him, a person with a bloody cheese grater that has recently been "in use" within the raccoon's anus. The Raccoon has tears in his eyes and cum on his face. The colors are muted, except for the blood.

Updated by anonymous

"He doesn't cum with the cheese grater going in. He cums when the cheese grater is coming out."

Can you confirm that it was the real artist and not someone masquerading as them because they didn't like the image?

The dude nuked his FA and other accounts as well. It's not like false takedown requests. Furthermore it was all of CBee's stuff, not just the cheese grater image.

Actually, have there been false takedown requests that actually got accepted? I'm assuming there are safeguards against this but has anyone ever managed to bypass those safeguards successfully?

When a post on e621 is "deleted", it's not really deleted but put in hidden mode.

It's done for two reasons:
-The post can be restored if the reason of deletion is no longer valid.
-The duplicate check works with deleted posts.

Updated by anonymous

There are safeguards in place to prevent false takedowns from happening, and have been in place for at least 6 or 7 years.

You have to message someone using your FA account (or DA, or other artist account iirc) to prove you are the real person. When I sent in my conditional DNP request I had to message someone with my FA which validated me as the artist.

Damn that means my favorite pic of Peppy Hare is gone too.

Updated by anonymous

The cheese grater may be gone, but it will live on in our hearts.

More stuff down the memory hole, creepier than the most unacceptable comment or most disgusting picture.

Nooooo, not the cbee cheese grater image!!! A sad day indeed. F

Seriously, a friend sent me a link to the image as a joke and that's how I found E621.

Updated by anonymous

The furry community will mourn this loss for many generations. All we can do now is work on protecting 69-11 and it's artist.

Oddly same, except I was the one who showed my it to my friend O_o

Damn... This is surprisingly sad.

I've been tuned into this site for almost 5 years (despite what my 'join date' says) and I never thought that I'd realize I had a sentimental connection to E621's most downvoted post.

It was bizarre to see when I saw that picture at first, but I was quick to apreciate and embrace the novelty that surrounded it. I wish I could learn more about the artist and why they purged their stuff so suddenly...

A hundred 69-11's couldn't fill this void. You will be missed post #6268.

Oh boy, I just got acknowledged that there was this image. I haven't seen it and I know it's bad. Is it still somewhere on the internet?

I'm somewhat amazed that Wayback Machine actually managed to capture that image, for as old as it was.

It was infamous, meaning it got the traffic that pulled Wayback to it as well.

Updated by anonymous

and/or people told it to capture the URL at that specific time lol

(given that it was only captured a few times in 2011, once in 2012, several in 2013 and then only once in 2017, i'd say people specifically told it to capture the page)

Why would they take it away? It was one of the first images I found on this glorious site, and it set a precedent for the rest of time.
