Topic: Tumblr and Better Version at Source

Posted under General

I have a question that's been bugging me for a minute and it's about the Better Version at Source tag.
I feel as thou there are bit of pictures still sitting around that could have been replaced a long time ago. Maybe some simply dont care for the older pictures, dont feel like reorganizing the smaller comic pages ect, but what about the Tumblr pictures now that there isnt a way to get the raw file?
A lot of the source links to them seem to be broken now. Are they still relevant to BVAS tag?

I think the tag should stay since there was a listed source where a better version could be found at one time, and the tag lets you know that there could be a better version somewhere out there.

Technically better version at source only applies if you can go and fetch the content on your own. That means that in case of something like tumblr explicit posts, they are no longer possible to get so they shouldn't have the tag.

I really wouldn't mind having seperate tag for known sample files, conversions and MD5 missmatches. This would allow something like known tumblr samples to be tagged, but not to have BVAS, meaning if alternate source or way to fetch raw files is found (as it's not possible to reblog some explicit posts anymore, making blog backup near impossible), then those could be replaced without effecting effectiveness of BVAS.
