Topic: Tumblrgeddon: How to access Tumblr blogs blocked by Safe-Mode

Posted under Off Topic

This requires a Tumblr account.
Take the name of the blog and add it to the end of this URL: https://www.tumblr.com/dashboard/blog/
Now the blog will open in a side-bar window on your dash with the warning "This Tumblr may contain sensitive media." and a button labelled "view this tumblr" that allows you to view previously blocked blogs.
However, I have found no way to get around individual posts being set to private, the blog owner can still view them but they cannot be made public again.
Post detailing how artists can access their own content and including what I've outlined above: https://jackthewolfen.tumblr.com/post/181375197306/jackthewolfen-jackthewolfen-gene-tierney
Please, spread this around so people can continue saving art before it's deleted or set to private!

You can just click on the "Go to my dashboard" link under "This Tumblr may contain sensitive media" and it will achieve the same thing.

Oh, huh. I didn't see that earlier, I think it's a recent addition, as I'm quite sure it wasn't there several days ago. Well, that's nice, seems tumblr is sliiightly relenting on things. Still a huge clusterfuck, but it's something. Thanks for pointing it out!

Former Staff

Forcing blogs with potential NSFW content to open in the dash seems like intentional punishment to me.

Eh, Tumblr and Verizon can suck it long and hard.
"But muh advertisements!"

I mean.... bandwidth costs money. I don't blame them for wanting to monotize.

the real problem is the advertisers who are not willing to have their adds next to adult content.

I mean, most of the stuff deleted probably wans't even PORN... just... adult.

Lots of SFW stuff was flagged, including posts made by the staff that were supposed to explain things! XD I've read explanations about how it's because they're using a neural-net with orders of magnitude too simple makeup, it simply can't do what they're asking it to do and never will. Won't do much to purge the actual porn-bots either, in all likely-hood, it ignores explicit posts tagged SFW unless flagged by a human. Wouldn't surprise me if trolls have been actively flagging innocent things for a laugh... Ain't clusterfucks fascinating to watch? Just wish it didn't impact so many nice and reasonable folks that did business there. Some are persevering though!

Oh god no, it was awfully done and they have no excuses for doing such a shitty job. 100% fail on tumblr's part.

But I can't fault them for wanting to make money off of a property. But I can fault them for how they did it.

I hate that all of this has happened. Tumblr really felt a lot like a home to me, y'know? There's no place quite like it. I hope a replacement rises up.
