Topic: Tag Alias: headshot -> headshot_(disambiguation)

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Aliasing headshot → headshot_(disambiguation)
Link to alias

Reason:

This tag has been problematic for years. This should've been done long ago.

We already have headshot_portrait, but a new tag name would be needed for images of people taking a bullet through the head.

EDIT: The tag alias headshot -> headshot_(disambiguation) (forum #219392) has been approved by @furrypickle.

Did you really need to necro a 2 year old thread just to agree with it?

It wouldn't let me submit the suggestion because this one is still pending. So... Yes.

If a suggestion is pending and a user can't suggest it themselves, bumping the thread is fine. Bumping on other kinds of threads not related to things like implications and aliases, such as like... a talk about cartoons or something, is necroing that isn't acceptable.

The bump literally being "+1" seems a bit excessive though. At least mention something like "I was about to suggest this, +1"

Fair enough, fair enough!

I was about to suggest this. +1
Why do some tag implications and edits end up in approval hell?

Copied the alias reason I've tried to put up:

I've noticed a lot of headshot images actually belong in headshot_portrait. I've tried to clean them up. Please double check if you feel like it.

The wiki states the difference, but is there anything else we can do to clarify it? Headshot_(disambiguation) might be an option, since the headshot technique and being shot in the head are completely different yet highly ambiguous.

I would suggest keeping headshot_portrait and making bullet_headshot or something along those lines.

Whatever happens, either imply headshot to violence or imply the new bullet_headshot tag to violence.

I think it would be better to alias headshot_portrait -> head_portrait and let headshot be for getting shot in the head

listen i have cleaned headshot tag countless times over years because people keep using it for headshot portraits all the time. it requires constant maintainance and its getting really tiring. changing the tag we use for headshot portraits is not going to fix anything because people still keep tagging them as headshot since thats incredibly common term for that type of portraits.

100% agreed. We need that disambiguation.

Bump. Again I had to untag half of the posts from headshot tag because they were just bust portraits, headshot portraits and close ups.

I thought of one, but I still like shot_in_head better.

It is boom_headshot, to mimic a semi-common phrase. However, you don't have to have a boom to also have a headshot. It also may not be clear to everyone that it's the right phrase to use.

The aforementioned bullet_headshot is probably the most common way to get a severe head injury, but it's not the only possible way. It could be a rock, or an arrow, or a spike (like a spike trap), or probably other things too.

How about headshot_(wound) or headshot_wound?

The former would be in-line with other wound tags such as cut_(wound) and slit_(wound).
Added benefit is that it remains ambiguous and does not specify whether it is a bullet, arrow, or any other projectile.

The only problem I can see is people using the tag to describe non-wounding headshots, such as using random objects, paintball, spit_ball, cum, etc. to perform said "headshot".

Yeah, I’d say it’s not necessarily a wound. And it might not be an actual bullet.
headshot_(projectile)? Idk

Gotta say this is one of the worst tag projects I've ever done, gonna need eye bleach for this one.

Also going to need help with headshot_(disambiguation) filetype:swf because I really can't be bothered to install Flash for this.

EDIT: Flash posts are the only thing left now

thank you for your work, I have finished off the flash files... with a... headshot... im not sorry and holy fuck the cringe factor in these old flash files
