Topic: I think the creepy comments rule goes too far

I’ve seen so many people get infractions for the mildest things. For example, look at the records of tiamat5. Only one out of the seven comments could be seen as even slightly creepy.

The rule is a double-edged sword really. The people who are blatantly underage or who lack the maturity to use the site are rooted out quickly, which is generally a good thing.
However, users who genuinely go out of their way to follow the guidelines can still get burned for it if there's ever any ambiguity in the rules.
Extremely micro-managed and ultra-specific instructions for how people are allowed to comment on posts does get genuinely exhausting sometimes, but serves a decent purpose.

I never proposed getting rid of it. It's certainly a useful and important rule, I just think it's way overused.

I only looked at a small portion of their tens of thousands of comments but there's plenty more stuff.

post #767533: "A pussy pile up I can get behind... seriously I didn't mean that last part to sound the way it did."
post #945071: "I like DAT dark ass"
post #1039537: "I will sit back and watch her use Thing Two and Thing One And then I'll give her Thing Three when she is done"
post #1008987: "I volunteer to be her new lab partner. Too late! I called it!"
post #1199495: "I like a little icing on my Cinnamon Swirl"
post #1516841: "Well I prefer chocolate ponuts but i guess I could give it a try."
post #1584505: "I prefer chicken breasts...that wasn't an innuendo I really do prefer the breast over any other part."

It's just ... unpleasant. These should be private thoughts not public comments. It's personal and should stay that way. The e6 comments section is not the place to tell us about your sexual preferences or fantasies.

He has over 48,000 comments (wow), of course a couple aren't going to be the best. Once again though, most of those aren't creepy. Just jokes or puns. Those weren't even mentioned in the infractions

This handful was a significant portion of the few dozen I looked at.

There's nothing wrong with a pun, even a bad one. But yes, these comments are creepy, at least as defined in the rules.

I'm guessing the mods didn't want to look through thousands of comments any more than I did.

I don't know what website you've been on, but I see very creepy comments on an almost daily basis around here. Like, 'I want to do this to that character' or worse. I'm glad the rule is strictly enforced to keep out the 'murrrrrr this makes me horny' crowd.

I genuinely believe that this rule solely exists to save e6's community from itself, without it, 90% of the community was predicted to die off within a week from various symptoms like stage 4 terminal cringe.

In all seriousness though, you could compare the comments made by furries and the comments made by anybody in any mainstream porn site and you'd find that ours are so much worse.

Agreed. I think @Dutchnoob is frankly just trying to stir up trouble rather than make e621 a better site for anyone.

You know what else doesn't make e621 a better site for anyone? Stirring up drama with other users.

They regularly make or highjack Forum threads to challenge established rules that exist for good reason. When I commented last night, he went through my old comments on images and sent me a private DMail telling me that a completely unrelated comment I made on a discussion literally years ago was wrong.

I don't think I'm the one stirring up drama.

Your comment was unnecessary and unwarranted. If you had a particular issue with this user, you should've taken it up with them directly, or contacted an admin instead of leaving your drama out to dry.

We're (mostly) all adults here. Can we please act like it?

I have and I will. Nevertheless, I think my comment has value to the discussion in this thread, and I stand by it.

And you are? You haven’t uploaded one thing. Hmm...

honestly i agree with ccoyote. pretty much everything dutch posts on forums seem come off as incredibly passive aggressive and attempts to stir up drama. its getting pretty exhausting to look at and i dont think that there is nothing wrong in pointing this out instead of just taking this thread as serious attempt to make the site better place.

Then don’t read my damn posts! Everyone here is rude, yet I’m supposed to be super polite? It’s a two way street. If you think I’m just a troll THEN LEAVE.

The rule is in place on request of the community, and will be continued to be enforced as is.
