I was wondering, not sure if it has been addressed previously, if it would be possible to make uploads made by users deletable by that uploader for X amount of time, or even better until approved by a mod and make this deletion not count against the user?

Reason is I find I am getting trumped on resolutions and the deletions are affecting my ability to share, but if the image is in approval phase then I can just go in and delete the lower res one I uploaded myself and not only save the mod the issue but also prevent a strike against the upload count. Also I find I am sometimes uploading a slightly smaller version of an existing image, or another user is flagging a pending post (and I wasn't able to match it in a search either due to my own error or tags not being the same) because it is a dupe that made it past the filter.

Just wondering as some of the image boards I frequent have this option enabled and it makes it much easier for me to correct my own mistakes or times when a better image is uploaded.

As far as I'm aware if your deletions makes your upload limit 0 and you haven't been completely abusive they'll increase it.

Upload Limit = 10 + (244 / 10) - (29 / 4) - 26 = 1
Upload Limit = 10 + (approved / 10) - (deleted / 4) - pending

It's not so much the deletions (29) that are affecting your upload limit as the huge number of uploads pending approval (26).

I am not talking about now, I am talking about overall. Every deletion is 1/4 of a step towards 1 less upload you can make. Conversely every 10 uploads that don't get deleted (and they can be deleted a month, 2 months, 3 months later) adds an upload. Its a system to prevent abuse I understand, but the deletions really hurt your score especially when they are for things like a better resolution was found. Its understandable for flagrantly uploading commercial content (as in not even bothering with the DNP list) or content that is of very poor quality, I just want to give myself the best chance to share. I have dozens of images waiting because I am limited on my uploads and the deletions only hold me back.

I am not concerned about it being 0 or even negative (it has been negative 1 a few times because of deletions and pending approvals). I am simply wondering if it might not be possible to implement a system where a user could take down material they posted, for say an hour or 2 after uploading it, or until it is officially approved. i can understand that a major reason for not having it in place is that people might abuse it and tax resources, but I am unsure if that is really a big issue or not.

Well it seems like pretty much everything you've been posting is inferior to the versions on the artists' profiles, which I assume is because you're posting from a mobile device. So maybe you should, you know...not do that. I'm reluctant to approve any of your posts since it's pretty much inevitable someone is going to post better versions.

Wow thanks. Flamed by an admin. very nice. What a great community here. I make a suggestion, instead of it being considered I get a flaming retort.

I am contributing, 90%+ of what I upload is great quality. Last thing I need to hear is a mod being snarky. So obviously the forums are not where you go to get any genuine assistance, thanks for the heads up.

How can you possibly interpret that as flaming? I'm simply telling you that uploading from your mobile device is hurting the quality of your posts, which is why they keep getting replaced.

This is really a coding question but the likely answer from that department is simply "no."

The best way to ensure that your uploading limit doesn't get hurt is to simply post lots of good images. You'd have to get an absolutely absurd amount of deleted images to your name in order for your upload limit to actually go below the default, let alone to zero. If, for some reason, this ever happens, let an administrator know, we can adjust your upload limit formula automatically.

The nature of this site means that we often get people who are filled with RAGING SEETHING HATRED for us... they could easily troll us by, say, posting IRL porn/bestiality, or kiddie porn or IRL gore, or whatnot, then deleting it a few minutes/hours later. Or there's always the case of "man, I'll upload that DNP post for you.. just grab it quick, okay?"

Ippiki by the by, had the right idea... if you're concerned about the volume of your deletions, just do your absolute best to make sure you're grabbing the highest res possible :)

I don't know if phones tend to resize when saving or whatever, but remember that you can upload by pasting in an image's fullsized URL into the 'source' field on the upload screen :) Then after uploading, you can edit the 'source' to reflect the 'proper' source more effectively :)

Also this change would probably be a lot more then 'change a few settings'.. it'd probably take a fair bit of work to solve a problem that can be solved by going "Hey, my posting limit is zero because of higher res reposts. Could you please raise my limit?"
