Topic: Twitter making moves against loli, shota; Japanese artists leaving the platform

Twitter Now Bans Loli, Shota Content; Japanese Users Retreat To Pawoo

With the new Twitter policy put into effect on February 24th, 2019, the company wasted little time in expunging users from the service hosting such material, which resulted in plenty of Japanese users taking flight to Pawoo.

Some users who follow various Japanese artists on Twitter explained that they saw their follower/following count drop drastically after the policy began being enforced. Pawoo user dotubo1 explained that it was safer to upload his lewd loli art to Pawoo than risk getting banned on Twitter, even though Twitter offered a much larger platform to grow his audience.

If you look at the English language policy, the wording makes it very broad:

For the purposes of this policy, a minor means any person under the age of 18 years. Examples of content that depicts or promotes child sexual exploitation include, but are not limited to:

  • Visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit or sexually suggestive act.
  • Illustrated, computer-generated or other forms of realistic depictions of a human minor in a sexually explicit context, or engaged in a sexually explicit act.
  • Links to third-party sites that host child sexual exploitation material.

This version of the policy specifies "human minor", but don't expect cub content to not be affected. Or artists will just leave anyway.

As part of the broader context, there is this:

Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child

The UN thing won't affect e621 unless the US passes related legislation. But it could be encouraging global companies like Twitter to crack down.

I have that blacklisted, why would I want to see it? Not a fan of that art at all, nor do I enjoy the cub stuff, so *shrug*

Loli, young, cub, it's all the same to me.

Your current list of favs say otherwise.

Around one page out of 123 pages of favorites, and even then looking at them none of them seem very clearly "cub" in nature.

Like, mind you, I'm all in favor of checking out people's favorites to see what they like and what they don't like, but in this case it seems pretty clear that their interest in the content is extremely minor.

Geddit? Minor? I'll shut up now.

FOR FUCKS SAKE! Social media sites as art gallery alternatives needs to die... Or at the very least they need to have an option to see posts in a gallary format, and not strictly an infinite scroll. As much as I hate the fact that more censorship's being pushed, i'll take anything that makes artists stop using twitter as a primary. A high install base shouldn't overshadow functionality.

You find that a lot with those types, at a point it just becomes virtue signaling to an audience they pretend cares.

Love how people respond to this by shrugging...yall know about the overton window? Once they get rid of the "worst thing" then naturally there is a new "worst thing"...the window shrinks. Soon they'll be banning 3d bestiality just like Patreon did...and one day they might go full Tumblr and just remove all hardcore porn. That's why Twitter is not a good platform...porn is a tertiary business for them they can and will cut it off whenever they feel like.

Results may vary. I get 75 posts per page (default).
I see 3 pages of young rating:e.

Eventually they'll ban furry and pokemon porn on the basis of virtual zoophilia/bestiality.

If this is what you're aiming for, say goodbye to your lifestyle.

What do I missed?

I intentionally not going to post this because all you care about is needlessly complaining about censorship, but someone just post it already and I expect people to do so. Stop the unnecessary complaints immediately.

Artist are so dumb when it comes to moving sites like these. Like, have they even got any of their brain? Have they ever think carefully before moving to another site?

I feel like we're in a political discussion again. I mean, this day could get any worse for everybody in the future.

This could be a sign of desparation, these platforms want to attract more people by getting rid of porn with the backdrop of people leaving these platforms due to them being "passe".

Loli, young, cub, it's all the same to me.

So, just because you personally are not interested in something, means it has absolutely zero value?

Also what makes these kind of things problematic is that the decision of what counts as underaged falls under the service. Furaffinity I have seen more than several artists getting suspended for artwork they posted years ago, simply because the character they were portraying is underaged by lore. So, at that point you either play it safe (which is altering your artistic vision) and don't even try to make art of anything that looks young or just change platform completely.

And if someone has followed about these situations happening this year, discord did also ban cub finally on top of loli/shota and youtube started to demonetize videos having kids featured in them. So it's just overall services seeming to be sanitizing their service for more widespread appeal and avoid getting bad press - because for majority it's content they deem disgusting to begin with and outside of scope they personally are using the service for.

Twitter is social media which even President Trump uses, Discord is chat for gamers, YouTube is video sharing platform, so none of these services had artwork especially of underaged character in their core aim or audience to begin with. Similar to how e621 doesn't have humans in its core aim and the majority of e621 userbase would get extremely confused and angry if human artwork started to pour in, cutting candy colored humans was decision that did make some users angry, but overall everything has continued as usual.

Just out of curiosity, which sites are left that still accept any (legal, obviously) content?

HicceArs, Inkbunny (no humans), Pixiv (must be censored), Newgrounds, e621 (no human only) and Derpibooru (must be pony related).
Not sure about Nijie and Paheal.

Derpibooru banned young humans and anthros a while ago, feral foals are fine though.

As someone else stated above, just the start of this sort of thing. They just find another worst thing to be rid of.

Well, I've guess these are the only safe haven for artists, though Newgrounds still won't allow underage porn.

Nijie is like Pixiv except not as popular, and Paheal is well, you guess.

Mastodon is open source software. Maybe a gallery view mode already exists? I might join Pawoo to get to the bottom of this.

My opinion has always been that I don't see the harm of this sort of content, but also in general I'm not particularly affected or bothered by it being banned. If anything it might encourage people to move to, or set up, some site that actually works as a proper gallery. Because let's be honest, Twitter was always a horrible, horrible platform for this sort of thing.

My level of sympathy is low here because, frankly, I feel like on the sliding scale of important-things-to-care-about, this ranks pretty low. Amusingly, I might have more sympathy if people into cub claimed to have pedophilic interests, because at least then they would feel forced off of a platform for a strong, base aspect of their personality (even if it is an aspect they could never act on morally), rather than just a particular interest they've got in porn.

I was more bothered by the FA ban because FA is a site which is specifically about artwork and which is largely used for NSFW artwork. Twitter is a social media site designed for unfeeling companies to pretend to be humans in order to appeal to consumers. Very different focuses.

What the hell are you talking about? I have no such things in my faves. Bzzt! Wrong! Try again. Not sure what you're trying to prove but I would rather bleach my eyes than look at cub/loli porn.

Edit: See this blacklist setting pic? Looks pretty definitive to me

Please, cut the crap already and don't make stupid assumptions.

He's full of it, doesn't know what he's accusing me of. I'm not a hypocrite if that's what he thinks.

Not all of it, but here's some of your current favs.

I don't see it, but my only guess is that when I faved it at the time, it wasn't correctly tagged. And after it was tagged, it was then blacklisted. I'm not even going to bother to look at it after the fact, so, yeah. Before when I faved, the tags were not properly made, but now they are, they've been filtered. *sigh*

I mean, I don't particularly want to call you out on bullshit, but there are, very distinctly, posts in your favorites where a human-sized person is being fucked by a child sized person. In a way that there is no mistake that they are a young person.

It's fine, you know? You liked a picture. Maybe you liked it because of the woman and not the kid. Maybe you liked something else about it. Maybe you liked it before you decided to black list it. Maybe you liked it, then decided you didn't later. Maybe you felt guilty about what you did like, and cdecided to blacklist it. Maybe you were on the wall about blacklisting it for ages then finally did.

It doesn't matter.

It's fine.

No one cares.

The only reason we're looking at yoru favorites right now is because you've drawn attention to yourself on this.

It's like we're in an old Murder mystery book and you've announced very loudly that you have no reason at all to kill that man and you don't know ANYTHING at all about him and you barely know him at all actually, despite being regular business partners.

Maybe it's true, but that's not what people are thinking right now, lol

Relax.

No one cares.

Just stop yelling about how you're innocent and didn't do it. no one cares. WE're not putting you on trial or anything. we're not determining yoru value. we're just talking about a platform opting to remove a form of media, in a way that causes many artists some difficulty.

This change will results in artists having to lose part of the audiences, and may result in our whitelist options needing to change, and so forth. Even non-cub artists may opt to make changes.

This is relevant to us from a "business" perspective.

" Maybe you liked it before you decided to black list it."

That's what happened because I don't go out of my way to fave any of that. I once faved them, someone went back later, added proper tags, and they have since been invisible/blacklisted on my favorite lists. I'm done, I'm moving on.
