The alien tag is an unmitigated mess from 2009 that relies on outside information, and it has been mostly replaced by the humanoid tag.
Alien should be invalidated. And would've been, but nobody wants to sort through 13000+ posts.
...though irken are one of the few 'alien' species that actually look alien enough to tag as such.

It really was supposed to be for species like Irken and Zeta Reticulans from the getgo, people just misused it.
