Is there a way to delete a comment if I ever find out I've made a mistake or if it goes against any rules?

"Hide" means nobody other than Admins can see it, so it's basically "delete". The hide button is at the bottom of the comment next to Respond.

To add onto it, hiding a comment doesn't mean it doesn't break the rules. It's best to check the rules or consult an admin and find out where you're toeing the line.

I do wonder if they see when it was hidden or not. I have been guilty once or twice of typing out a message out of annoyance or having a bad day or whatever, thought better of it, and hid it right away. I wonder if they can see if you regret it early enough and if that matters at all lol

I can't remember if it's enabled by default, but there's a setting to view your own hidden comments, and that's how the admins see them, it's essentially still there but with a red background on the comment, so they know not to reply/quote from it. I'm not sure if there's actually a date/time it was hidden though.
