Topic: Why haven’t the dickgirl and cuntboy tags been changed yet?

These dickgirl and cuntboy really need to change as soon as possible. Having read through several threads on the subject, I understand that the TWYS model makes it so that characters who are explicitly trans will be lumped together with similar-looking fetish characters. The desire to deliver viewers easily-searched content based on the observable traits of the characters makes this inevitable. Even so, using terms with negative/transphobic connotations for many people is not a good idea. Addressing this problem while keeping the existing tagging system intact requires that the existing labels be realiased- a solution that staff members have indicated was on the agenda for months now. So what gives? While I understand this is a delicate issue, this much of a delay seems to indicate a lack of conviction more than it does indecision. An intuitive replacement could be something as simple as male_with_vagina and female_with_penis; both of these alternatives escape the uncomfortable message conveyed by the current ones while still capturing the essence of what they describe. So why haven’t things changed? It’s hard to tell what’s going on if the staff provide no insight other than saying “we’re working on it” in perpetuity.

The weird thing about this forum post is that it's made by someone talking like this has been a long standing disgruntle they've had with the site but this forum post is the only activity associated to it, And the account is new.

Maybe because these terms have been a norm in pornographic context for decades now and only in recent years have they become something extremely negative, that literally nobody has come to conclusion that what is the non-slurry alternative term that should be used and that aliasing tags which have combined count nearing 100 000 posts could just tiny bit of a process both from technical standpoint as well as messaging the change to users who use the tags?

This also would not cause issues of trans characters being annoyed to be lumped with fantasy genders, herms being confused to be tagged with just dickgirl or canon male characters getting offended for being tagged with female.

It's like trying to make instant 180 degree turn with cruiser boat or like homer shouting stop the presses.

I'm also all in on changing the term into something else, because it should not effect anyone elses experience on the site but make it less frustrating for those who do see the terms in negative light, but at the same time instant catering and whiteknighting on the issue aren't helping. It will happen, I hope soon so these threads and complains can stop.

Good to know you understand it is a delicate issue, so it makes sense you would understand we are trying to deal with it internally and figure out the best course of action.

Also as others have said:
>new account
>knows what shit is going on
>seems to know some stuff

yeah no, either you are a alt or you were sent here by "disgruntled hates e621 mcgee" to stirr shit up.
I'm locking this thread as it is highly suspicious and drama bait. Feel free to send me a DM about your real account or where you came from, and maybe I'll unlock this thread.
