I have three pieces of art of my character, and having seen other peoples OC's have character pages, I was curious as to how I can do that myself so I can tag my character accordingly.

If you're talking about wiki pages, the easiest way is to first create the tag, if already created you can click on the ? beside the tag on a post with said tag and that page is the wiki which can be edited.

Or you can just go to wiki at the top of the page and click new

I tried to create a character tag but it put it as a general tag instead. I used character:glyph_(jessijinx) and it wasn't happy. So I'm unsure what to do.

You have to be Privileged in order for metatags to work. You can instead go to the "Tags" tab at the top, search for your tag, and click "edit" to edit the type.

(Edit: It appears that someone has sorted that for you, though you should still keep this in mind for the future, in case you upload anything else with a new character.)

Being useful for the site (tagging lots, posting good content, being generally helpful for the site) and proving that you probably wont shit up everything with all the tools that come with the rank (like mass tagging, unlimited tagging and voting, rating locks etc)

IIRC I got my priv rank just by tagging a ton and engaging to forum discussions regarding tagging stuff, and reporting bunch of rule breakers.

Don't expect it to happen. Just be helpful for the sake of being helpful. Maybe you'll get it, probably you won't, but at least the site has been improved that way.
