I keep trying to search "shota" but I keep getting booted to the main posts page. The tag clearly still exists, I see it when I go to posts tagged with it, but I can't search it. What's up with this? Is the tag now hidden or unsearchable or something?

Both this and loli are suffering problems right now, the searches aren't working right and their wikis won't show unless linked with \[[]]...

That's weird. You can combine shota with other search terms and posts will come up. I guess you can use -status:del shota to find posts but that uses up one of your search terms

Combining it with male/female doesn't seem to work for me

I wonder why those tags are having issues right now? Both "cub" and "young" are fine. Maybe it's a bug with some sort of thing they're trying to hide those from search engines?

https://e621.net/post/index?tags=shota and https://e621.net/post/index?tags=loli are not affected redirecting too.

Recently 8chan got dropped by Cloudflare, and now Oath hides Kiwi Farms results, so you won't see them in results on Yahoo or DuckDuckGo. I swear, the censorship machine is speeding up.

It got worse. Combining with other tags isn't working either.
I guess you can use cub -loli for shota and cub -shota for loli, it's not perfect but a nice workaround for now I guess

This has nothing to do with moderators or this site itself. AFAIK it's cloudflare that is doing this.

I'm still just guessing.
I don't see why the admins would do it without an announcement and it's real specific for an incidental bug, so I'm just assuming it's somewhere in the service provider chain.

That's bizarre.

I got booped about this and, I don't really look for this kind of stuff but this got me curious as to what is happening so a quick experiment showed that Cloudflare might be the one doing the filtering.

What it did also show is that it only "blocks" it if it's the first word on the search (following crusty_fire's tip): say, "dancing shota" would show what you want (kinda) while "shota dancing" would just redirect you to the main listing. Heck, even adding a simple space before the search works. :V

Take it as a workaround because I can't guarantee the CF people won't notice this and patch it away.

Oh issue solved. Either put your other search terms first, or just search -rating:s loli / -rating:s shota. These tags do not belong on safe posts anyways so filtering out the safe rating won't do anything.

It's more like paying a mafia to protect you from other crime groups. They're not the ones who are going to DDoS you if you don't pay up, they'll just look the other way if it's none of their business.
