Literally just download a pic, go to 'Upload', select the file, tag it properly, then click upload.

Ask if you can post their art.
Yes/No
Yes: Post their art.
No: Don't post their art.

This is correct. Especially true if their art hasn't been uploaded here before. If you skip this step, it can cause trouble later on.

Also make sure you add the artist tag AND the source when/if you upload it.

ETA: What Husky said. I was assuming that part was obvious, but you were asking for all the details, so assuming half the details isn't helpful. sorry about that.

In case it helps, here's what most people do (or at least what people are supposed to do):

You find art elsewhere that you think is worth uploading here, and fits e621's theme (mostly furry or animal related, and mostly art, and mostly really good). Awesome. Now there's a few things to check first.

2, Double-checking that it isn't already uploaded here. You can search under the artist's name to see if it's one of the pictures by them that are already uploaded here. One way to find the artist's tag is to search here: https://e621.net/tag/index?order=count using a * symbol after the name just in case they have an _(artist) after their name or something. So if you're on FA and you see an artist called "foxystar" and you want to see if they're already uploaded here then you can go search https://e621.net/tag/index?order=count using foxystar* to find the artist tag. Once you have the artist tag for that artist, then it's easy to look through it and see if the image you want to upload is here already. You can also use e621's image search to see if the site can find the image already here, handy to use if you don't know the artist's name or just want to be extra sure. That site image search is here: http://iqdb.harry.lu/
If it is here, check and see if it's smaller or lower quality than the version you found. If the version you found is bigger, better quality, etc then you can upload the better version, then parent/child them with the bigger version as the "parent" to the smaller version, and then flag the smaller version for deletion with a reason like "uploaded better quality version here post #_____ " etc. But if it's not already uploaded, then you check the DNP list to make sure it's allowed here.

3, checking to make sure the artist is not DNP by looking to see if the artist or character is listed on this page: https://e621.net/wiki/show?title=avoid_posting You can use CTRL + F to make your browser let you search the page for the artist's name, etc instead of having to read it all yourself. You'll also want to make sure it's not paid content, etc, and a few other things which are DNP conditions. It's all on that page though, so it's easy to know what to check for.

If the picture is not already uploaded (you don't want to upload a duplicate, unless yours is higher quality) AND if the artist, etc isn't forbidden by the DNP list, then it's safe to post it. But you should still ask for permission, especially if the artist has never been uploaded here before.

4, Asking permission of the artist if you can upload some of their art (fully credited to them) on our art archive here. They may say no. they may say yes. They may have questions. Make sure you tell them that we're an art archive, you'll be crediting them as the artist and that you're not trying to steal their art in any way. If they say no, then respect it. (Even if their reason seems stupid.)

5, If they give permission, then you download the highest quality version of the image you can find to your computer. Bigger is always better.

6, Then you go to the upload page on e621, upload the image, put the link of the page you found it on, the artist's name, and at least 4 tags. And make sure the rating makes sense: explicit if you can see a penis or vagina, or if they're doing any form of sex. questionable if it's only bare breasts but no vagina or penis visible (anything that's not "safe" or "explicit" usually gets "questionable" rating, so there's a wide variety of things which fit 'questionable' rating). safe if you'd show it to your grandma and nothing naughty is even implied. Unless your grandma is a wild woman, in which case just think "does this picture look innocent, acceptable to look at it in public and basically non-sexual? aka 'safe'. Or is it 'questionable' in some way and needs to be rated that instead?" and rate it according to that information.

Then you're done. If it's good quality, relevant to the site (it's furry/anthro/feral and not human-only and meets quality standards, etc), and it's not on the DNP list then most likely it will be approved without any issues. If you did everything well then you probably won't have any problems. If you skip a step, then it could cause problems later on.

It should also be noted that just because it's bigger, doesn't mean it's better. Some images can be magnified, causing artifacts and pixelation. If you upload from the artist's source, this should eliminate the issue.

You've posted 8 things, so I'm not sure why you're asking how to post. If you mean how do you post stuff and not have it deleted, post things of decent quality that are furry related.
