Topic: What's the policy for explicit art from underage artists?

Posted under General

I came across a furry artist on Twitter that draws explicit materials while admitting to being under 18. From My own looking around, there's no trace of her on this site, even on DNP; that has me curious about the stance on such here.

I had a quick look but you can't search deletion reasons, though I've seen posts deleted before due to the artist being underage.

Heh, I wish I kept the stuff I drew when I was around 12 or so. It was trash because a 12 year old drew it, of course, but I wish I kept it to make certain parties uncomfortable.

It only gets deleted if it's below minimal quality standards, right?
I don't see why nsfw content created by minors should be deleted if it's good quality stuff.
Quality is quite the priority after all.

If that's what was meant, that's what they'd have said. ImpidiDinkaDoo made it pretty clear - art made by minors gets deleted. Nothing to do with quality.

This is a 18+ only website, so for minor to be able to see or takedown their own content, they would need to access this website, but they legally cannot.

Also I think there are also some legal problems with minors creating content they cannot legally see for themselves.

So, to sidestep and bypass all of that legal and moral cobweb, makes sense to not host their content unless they are of age.

So if they made it when they were under 18, but it was posted after they're 18, it's okay?

Or if they post their porn elsewhere, and I upload it to e621 with their explicit written permission?

It is illegal to knowingly host pornographic content created by a minor. That's almost unilaterally true across the world.

It doesnt take much to figure out why its not allowed here.

It is considered exploitation and sexual solicitation of a child, a federal offence in the US. They're a minor distributing sexual content.

Also to add onto this, adults found to be participating in the content, such as purchasing NSFW commissions from a minor artist, can be potentially charged with solicitation and end up on the sex offender's registry. This info can be found on google, with a lot of info to read if you search the "Sexual exploitation of children" US code specifically.

I think it pretty much sums up to this:
Due laws, the policy is artists who draw 18+ art needs to be 18+. No matter how "stupid" those laws are.

I know it's stupid, because in the puberty period people's sexuality is getting a biological development boost. In that period, they're also getting to "experiment" and seek for their "sexual identity".

Unfortunately, e621 is not a site primary targeting teens as audience. (at least, I assume it isn't).

We were told in school to avoid porn as sexual education tool, because it is fantasy content that is creating too high expectations of how sex really works.

Furry artwork would multiply that issue by hundredfold.

Speaking as someone who drew a lot of furry porn when he was a kid, had practically no sexual education, and so was fuzzy on the mechanics of sex...

I got over it. Learning the world doesn't conform to your expectations is the whole point of growing up and there is no reason why sex should be seen as any different.
