Topic: Mantrin vs Sogowan (Stith from titan AE, species) question

Posted under General

Okay. So, having recently re-watched the film Titan A. E., the credits list Stith's species as "Sogowan". This puzzled me as community members called the species Mantrin. I therefore began searching for where the name Mantrin was used and could find no location of it other than it POSSIBLY being an earlier used name for the novelization.

However, it is not in the film and, as far as I can tell, it also isn't on the short lived toy series.

Can someone tell me why Mantrin is the primary species name when the only media I can find (and the main one that even shows it, the movie it's self) says Sogowan?

I can't vouch for where each terms are officially used (It was probably somewhere in print-media), but Mantrin appears to be the actual name of the species, while Sogowa is their planet of origin, making them Sogowan in the same way you'd call someone European.

I've been looking for information to back this up but find nothing on it. Can you provide anything?

As it stands, in the canon material (the movie), the credits OUTRIGHT state her species is "Sogowan". The credits also list Cale, Corso, and Akima as Humans, not "earthlings" or anything like that leading a direct opposition to your statement.

Anyone?

If no one can come up with any official media that lists the species as "Mantrin", whereas the movie's official credits sequence lists them as Sogowan, then I'm going to lobby to change the species tag to reflect the correct species name which is used in canonical material.
