Topic: Feeling Disengaged

Posted under General

Is it just me, or is every image starting to look the same here? The more I look, and there's nothing different. I'm also kinda losing interest in talking to people here... Nothing new is happening, and I start to question nearly everything I see. This sounds crazy coming from me, but I'm wondering what brought me here in the first place (besides my curiosity)

Updated

I tend to agree, though there are gems to be found among the everyday rubble, among both the artwork and the users.

Do you think you could update the topic so other users don't have to click on it to find out what your "Small Issue" is?

Is this better?

Still have to click to find out what you mean. ๐Ÿ˜„

Maybe something like, "Is all the art starting to look the same?" or "Feeling Unengaged; What keeps you here?"

I honestly don't know what keeps me here. I'm different from everyone here.

As far as NSFW goes, furry porn is way more interesting than normal porn, where some guy just does the same repetitive thrusting motion for 10 minutes straight. With Furry porn, you'll never get bored because there's always something to make you go "Wait wut? WTF am I even looking at???"

But with regards to both SFW and NSFW, the great thing about furry art is the infinite potential. Yet, furry OCs tend to look samey regardless. I've occasionally avoided this by using copytags:>0, since fanart somehow manages to be more original than OC's. I think most other users view it the other way around though, as it's common for people to search copytags:0, feeling that that will lead to more original posts.

EDIT: Maybe I'm just biased, since copyrighted characters are more likely to be around "4" on the furry scale, the best type of furry https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/furry-scale

I don't upload or interact anywhere near as much as I used to, but i'm just tired. I still see a lot of good shit I like.

I do agree with 4 being the best, but I disagree with furry porn being unique. It isn't real, which is a big turnoff, and it's mostly dog, horse and human cock (Your profile picture and all the artist's work shown here for further proof).

Oh, don't get me started on vulvas...

You sound really bitter for no reason.

I wouldn't say every art is the same now, but that you're now dull to the thing that were "new" to you some years(?) ago.
It's been almost a decade for me, and I still find lot of new thing to see on e621.

And if I ever get bored, I just go to r34 to look at some "more" human drawing or furafinity/pixiv for something "less" human.

Yeah, sorry about that. I've been sounding like that for a while, and you're right about me losing my interest. One more thing to say, R34 has a lot of the stuff that's here too, but the ads are a pain to deal with.

Well, R34 isn't furry only, so a lot of art cannot be posted by definition here(e621). some artist find a loophole but usually, you can miss a lot of good artist simply by sticking to 1 website.

Oh okay.

If you want to rekindle an interest in talking to people here (but then, who would want to talk to people from e621 lol), you should probably check out the discord server.

About that...

If you're finding that everything is running together, try blacklisting some things temporarily!

I noticed this happening to me on FurAffinity a while back, so I just turned on the SFW filter, since that's all you can really do, and I found myself noticing a ton more stuff. I love NSFW art but it made a difference just taking that out for a while so my brain could relax.

On here, there are so many more options for eliminating things. And after a few months, you can take the terms off and you might see things in a different light!

Sometimes the brain just gets exhausted from the same thing, but thankfully you can usually make those things fresh again with a little distance.

I tried that one time, and I just keep thinking about something that certain person (or others) has made that I disliked, which prevents me from favoriting something else they made that I preferred.

Honestly, to me it sounds like you are severely burnt out. Maybe its time to take a long break from furrydom?

One frustrating thing is that there's all this potential, as you say, and yet, we do get stuck with the same repetitive poses over and over and over and over and over again. Here's an example, all of these posted within the last 18 hours:

I have no idea how many more times this pose was repeated among things I have blacklisted. Infinite opportunity; limited creativity.

I've noticed previously that rear_view presenting tends to be one of the highest-voted types of solo content in general.
It might be nice if creativity was what drove artistic success, but while people are asking for more of the same thing, we're mostly going to get more of the same thing.

I don't disagree with you. I just think it's boring and unengaging.

Yeah, all of that stuff shown is bad.

For real though, I've said this before, I don't even treat this as porn, I just stare at it longer if it's good (in my own opinion). Im going to also be completely honest as well, I'm so picky with the stuff I like, that it drives furry discords (or furries in general) batshit crazy (yes, even this place's discord).

Would it be worth scribbling things that you would like to see? Maybe a reptilian goddess with dick nipples and vaginas for fingernails or something crazy like that? Even if you never post it, the fact that you've taken the time away and refined what you really want to see may influence your outlook on the situation.

Then again maybe not, who knows? I'm just a stranger on the Internet.

Yeah, I dug a hole in for myself. I am getting out of it so far though. (That idea you thought up scared me a bit)

Pardon if I'm bumping this thread made by a banned user, but I seem to share his sentiment of disengagement.
My preferences differ than his (he was very picky, and I'm into gay porn), but while my feeling sometimes is that I see a sense of repetitiveness, I also feel there's a sense of not catching up with the sea of incoming posts.

Plus the fact that me being an artist who uploads my own stuff and the mix of self-doubt, worry, and a roller-coaster motivation to draw things is getting me that sense of disengagement and boredom.

I don't know. I just feel a sense of discomfort and disengagement.
