Well, latex is aliased to rubber, so that wouldn't be any different.

Sure it would. It would ensure that if anyone forgot to add the "latex" tag on their own, the system would remember it for them. All latex being aliased to rubber would mean, is that it ALSO auto-adds rubber.

The "latex" tag wouldn't appear on the post even if something else has an implication tied to it, it'd just immediately get replaced by its alias.
