I do agree this alias should happen, although I would prefer the reverse. Groping self just sounds better imo.

self_grope matches the naming standard: *_grab, self_bite, etc.

But what is the purpose of these tags? Grope is rather vague, it'd be better to use more descriptive tags. And a lot of things that might fall under 'self grope' already have existing tags, so I'm not sure what niche these fill.

Same as grope but for the self, I'd assume.

Then that'd include most of masturbation, except for sex toy use. Manually 'groping' self also loses lot of the nuance of what's generally considered groping.

Not to mention that the grope tag is pretty problematic in the first place, considering that most of the *_grope tags have been aliased to *_grab, but only crotch_grab is implicated to grope.

I was going to suggest that maybe grope could be retooled as a catch-all for the various grab tags, but grabbing already exists as its own tag (...apparently, not like anything implicates it).

Okay, er... Apparently the line in topic #30694 duplicating this alias was edited out, either manually or automatically, resulting in the BUR affecting a grand total of 6 posts and leaving the roughly even split (172 for groping_self, 192 for self_grope) between these two tags.

As for the objections, to my mind there is a definite border between self-groping and masturbation. The former, for example, is a frequent sight in your average pop music video. Maybe self-groping could turn into or act as a prelude to proper masturbation, but more usually it is intended more to arouse another character or the viewer than to stimulate the character performing it.
