Topic: I Can't Upload Art

Posted under General

I used to upload things. But most of the things I did upload got deleted since other people found superior versions of the things I uploaded. Obviously I have no problem with that. But what happens when my upload privilege reaches the negative? Am I no longer allowed to upload ever again?

I really would like to upload, sometimes I find things not on here, but I am no longer able to upload since I am in a -4
Can a Mod or someone explain to me, please? Much appreciated.

Many who have their uploads in negative have essentially wasted hours and hours of many other people time that needs to clean up after their mistakes.

Contacting any active admin works, but please also include reasoning as to why your upload limit is in the negative and how you are going to go moving forward.
If it is something larger like artist suddenly dropping a zip with PNG versions or rule changes of paid material being all not allowed all of a sudden, then that's easy thing to understand and admins most likely simply raise the limit. If you have been constantly taking sample sizes or saving the images into PNG in ms paint for some reason (which somehow is a thing and I have been seeing these kind of flags last several days a lot which makes me really angry), then the upload counter most likely is kept in negative for good reason unless you can convince staff othervice.

In your case outside of couple humans and shitposts, most everything else are pretty common post replacements, usually replacing twitter copies with FA or Newgrounds ones which aren't compressed. Should be as easy as asking admin to raise the limit back to 10.

In their last thread I asked if they're a phoneposter, with no response.
Personally I'm still against resetting post allowance in any scenario other than a user losing their posts to mass-takedowns

Imagine for minute, say someone who started off rough but over time progressed into being a good site contributor. But suddenly, a lot of their older archives were replaced with better variants, ruining their ability to upload. Would you consider them unworthy to have a second chance?

Okay sure, I exaggerated.
If someone's notably improved their uploads, but gets negative-capped from a sudden mass-vbats-reupload of old posts (I know that was a big complaint about some bvats reuploaders) then they should be evaluated by admins.
But I'll remind you we're looking at someone who's been consistently uploading BVATS posts for four years, right up until their upload cap went negative 8 months ago. user:ANON_PIE status:all
Only 7 of their last 20 posts are still up.

Most my uploads were good for a time, but then became inferior versions and was taken down. I am not sure if I was using a phone or my tablet at the time, but maybe that could have caused some images to be inferior to others. Yeah, I think I was using a tablet to upload. But I usually got the image from the source I figured there wouldn't be a difference in image quality if it came from the original artists found on twitter and whatnot. Don't mean to upload crappy quality. And they usually got approved until someone else found a superior version.

And sorry, Magnus but that came off a little bit aggressive, if I ignored your last reply, it was not intentional nor am I making oopsies on purpose, I am not on hear 24/7 spankin' my shlong *lol* and actively talking to a community. Im mostly a passerby just come on here to admire some good nude furry art as a small hobby. And like to occasionally upload something people haven't seen that I liked myself.

YES, EXACTLY, that is exactly what happen to me, I was pretty proud of the stuff I posted and I liked that people enjoyed them, but then they became inferior versions and since I have to keep uploading to stay in the positive that would be stressful. However, I'm not the type to do that.

From time to time, I just see things not on here and thought it'd be nice to add it, paying the upload thing no mind...I did my best to make sure it was ok and the usually got approved.

Sorry if I came across as hostile, I've just seen a lot of users complain about this and I don't always communicate well with Versperus.

Honestly, the Howto: Sites and Sources wiki should probably be more visible than it is. e621 isn't a friendly place to casual uploads largely through a combination of the requirement to know the best site a given artist posts to, and that most source sites don't make it obvious how to grab the best quality downloads. A lot of your older deleted uploads seem to be preview-versions from Deviantart, and two of your most recent were Twitter posts from artists that post full-res versions elsewhere.

I didn't know people complain about this stuff often. News to me, but I guess as a casual uploader Im paying a small price due to people finding better versions of what I showed. Thanks for understanding my small situation at least. If I put myself in your shoes I can totally understand where you're coming from as someone who engages this community more than I on a week to monthly bases.

I hope that if my situation gets resolved, I'll be more mindful of what I post and hope they are the best quality so I can avoid my posts being deleted due to being an inferior version.

I mostly tried to upload things people forgot about, kinda like "reviving dead characters"
Naturally if I upload something popular, it is bound to get a superior version to the previous uploader. Noticing that, in my posts, not many do Towergirls, Irkens, and small comics that people may have forgotten like fanart of RubyQuest.

For the most part I figured out some of the best
methods to find the highest quality version of the
art piece I have to upload

but the problem right now is that there aren't that many janitors and/or
admin approving art and because of
that I don't have any uploads remaining because they're still in pending :(

Can you tell us the exact error it says? It shouldn't be that hard since you have uploaded a couple of posts already.
