Topic: [APPROVED] Tag alias: crossdressing_male -> crossdressing

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #46748 crossdressing_male -> crossdressing has been approved.

Reason: There's absolutely no need for a tag denoting which gender is crossdressing.

EDIT: The tag alias crossdressing_male -> crossdressing (forum #294019) has been approved by @Millcore.

A lot of it is by one user. I remember removing this tag, and crossdressing_female.

Hi.

I figured it was a useful tag to have, but I realize that the girly and tomboy tags functionally serve a similar purpose. So I am taking a rather neutral stance on this. Although I'm not exactly sure how best to use the girly tag. Is clothing alone enough for the tag?

From the common usage I've seen, girly is a body type tag. Mostly it's used for (generally slender) males with feminine features, think gynomorphs sans breasts. Sometimes they are wearing girly clothing, but from what I've seen the clothing isn't usually the determining factor.

Glancing at the wiki, the page for girly seems to mirror the tomboy page, but only girly mentions body type as a factor. So, by the wiki definitions tomboy and girly seem to cover crossdressing_female and crossdressing_male, but usage doesn't reflect it from what I see.

Tbh, the tomboy search page looks like a mess to me and a lot of the posts don't feel like it applies, imo; but that's getting off topic.

Being girly or a tomboy has next to nothing to do with clothing. The former is a "body type" thing, and the latter is more of a personality thing.

The reason for not having "crossdressing_male" and "crossdressing_female" tags, is because it contributes to tag bloat, owing to the fact that tagging it "crossdressing" along with the appropriate gender tag, accomplishes essentially the same thing. Sure, non-solo images where only one character is crossdressing, will lead to false positives and false negatives in search results, but not enough to justify adding two entirely new tags.

I created the tag, because I figured that the crossdressing tag was going to be 98% males and 2% females, making finding crossdressing of genders other than male particularly difficult or at least requires some thought about which tag combination to use to get it.
