Sorry if this is considered spamming/trolling, but I'm intrigued and want to hear others' opinions about it.

Oh boy, you're threading on very dangerous waters here. The more "opinions" you get here, the more likely this thread is gonna get locked.
Cub, as you have said, is a very polarised topic. Some like them, some don't, and then there's some that staunchly believe it should be erased from the face of the earth.

Now I'm assuming you're talking about the NSFW side of cub.
So let's see here - topic #26789, topic #18532, topic #18078 - there have been discussions about this before and you can probably find more similarities in discussions about loli and feral.

You need to first understand that any, if not, most kinks (or more accurately, paraphilia) that people see negatively are shunned by society in real life.
Human culture and social norms have already painted these ideas as "bad". Some countries outright ban porn in general.
With good reasons too, and that is to protect those in the real world (i.e. actual people/animals).
If somebody were to practice these ideas in real life, it can potentially harm real people/animals.

With drawn or fictitious pornography, the opinions diverge.
Arguments for is that such content do not inherently harm any people/animals in real life.
Arguments against, however, is that they have the potential of doing so (i.e. from people who are unhealthily obsessed and cannot control themselves in society/break the law). That's the basic reason behind the negativity.

As for why people like them?
Now don't quote me on this, but I believe that people can fancy such content is because of the relief they get from breaking these societal norms/taboos.
The same can be said for violent video games, we like playing Grand Theft Auto or violent video games because it arouses our senses.
Does that mean we would carry out these behaviours in real life? Not really. And that is because of the firewall that is called society & principles.
We have an obligation to society and to our own principles to not hurt others, and it is that firewall that stops us from committing crimes.

It is when such principles break and when society collapses, do we see the demons begin to roam the earth.

Please don't turn this into another cub topic, keep your discussions as to why you think you have developed your own fetishes.

Isn't that the whole "violent video games cause violence" argument?

Yep, people think fictitious violence causes real-life violence. It does not, your environment (e.g., family violence/abuse) has more impact than games.[1]
So the question is, would fictitious porn cause real-life actions?

But that's a question for another topic. >.<

I think it's been shown that factors while growing up can induce fetishes later on in life. That Definitely doesn't explain every fetish though. There are some where, i think, you start picking up patterns and paying attention to certain things and slowly start liking them a little too much than normal.

More than liking too much I would distunguish between liking and arousing. Fetishes are arousing. For some subjectiv examples I really love chocolate but I don't get aroused by it one bit or I love my family but I don't get aroused by them.
Surely things can be mixed up with liking but liking is also very broad and vague. Something also can develope from liking to a fetish, too. There surely also are some factors from young years and so on but from the moment I can remember I had some "thoughts" and ideas about somethings. I can now discern for example that I had a non-fatal unbirthing fetish since at least grade school. But I have absolutely no clue why for any of my fetishes.
I also believe that every person gets born with some traits of his own without any prior influence whatsoever to explain that trait.

It's all a little fuzzy, but really it's furries to blame for producing content on one fateful night when I had half the brain when nobody was home to go looking around. Though by that time I had already been exposed to Furry porn because of some Zombie Master mod server run by furries that allowed porn sprays.
