Topic: Zaush eSpoused edits?

Posted under General

So I'm not certain if this is something that would be considered against the rules or not....

I'm referring to pool #21764

There's an anonymous coward over on u18chan who has made edits to the original works. I personally think they're a dramatic improvement, and I would like to upload them to e621 as child posts of the originals. I've no idea if that's against the rules or not. Obviously I would not be uploading anything which does not have the original already here.

Example - compare post #2422799 with https://u18chan.com/uploads/data/13325/eSpoused-outfit-sporty_edit_u18chan.jpg

edit: As an additional question, the edits are based on the higher-resolution Patreon [I presume?] released images, not the images on e621. Should I downscale the edits to match the resolution of the original images on e621?

Updated

I'm not sure making bigger breasts, wider hips, and thicker legs would count as high quality edits. It's not my call though, a moderator would have to speak on it.

If the original sources aren't freely available, then edits of them won't be allowed either. If e6's are smaller, that would suggest the edits are based on higher-res non-public versions, or have been upscaled using some algorithm, neither of which is good.

The guidelines cite "adding stories, changing text, bucket fill coloring, cutting out parts, etc" as low-quality edits. The edit in question seems pretty well done to me.
What would you classify as a high-quality edit?

Good coloring, adding significant new or replacement elements in the image (which mesh mostly seamlessly with the original elements), that kind of thing. From what it looks like in that edit, someone used a bubble warping effect to stretch out the chest, hips, and legs. You can see errant warping on the tail as a result of the hips being stretched out. I would guess there was some more care around the breasts and arms, but I don't know if that would be enough. I might err on the side of no, but it is close, and it would be up to a moderator anyway, not me.

High-quality edits are allowed, based on the discretion/judgment of the staff approving it.

However, they can be subject to Conditional-Do-Not-Post rules. Artists can request for edits to not be made and accepted on the site.
For now, Zaush is not on the list and so edits are allowed (until they request for edits to not be done on their work).

Leaked/pirated content are not allowed, even edits of them.
You will need to get an edit that is done on the public version of the image.

Downscales of images are not recommended, as those done poorly will destroy the image's quality. See this thread for more info.
Also, crops of higher-resolution Patreon posts are still considered pirated and thus not allowed.

On one arm you can see where the linework's been split and moved (ending with a jagged edge)
On the other arm the line becomes much thinner right before it meets the breast.

Alright, so my take away from all this is that the edits themselves are okay-ish [I think they meet the quality threshold, though a moderator is free to correct me on that], but the paid-content resolution is a problem.

I could downscale them and add a 'better version at source' tag, but given that the source would be linking to the paid content at u18chan I have a feeling that would not be satisfactory.

Unless a moderator pops in here and explicitly approves this plan, I'm just going to write this off as too much hassle and risk [of negative account actions]. Which is a damn shame because I do think these quick edits substantially improve on Zaush's work, but that's a different discussion.

Those edits are all low effort under our guidelines, as they aren't redrawn, but mostly just morphed and deformed.
