Every time I want to upload something, I now have to complete a captcha.

Why?
I dont want to have to do this.

How do I get it to stop?

At least it has stopped asking for captchas whenever we edit our profile.
That was bloody annoying while it lasted (since I often edit mine multiple times per day, to keep track of the projects).

I never got asked for captchas, should I check my privilege?

Ah, nice to see I'm not the only one who occasionally stumbles upon those. For me it's far from 'every time I want to upload' though, luckily.

You don't, it's part of the site. I only got that once but then again, I only upload 1-4 posts a month

At one point I uploaded 6 pics in a row.
Could that be what has caused it?

Maybe

This is actually starting to really frustrate me now.

I'll look into this.

However, it's a spam filter setting. Only triggers when you're doing a single task repetitively... so, regardless of how low we set it to, it will still trigger when you do actions that the system thinks might be spam.

I'm not saying you have to change what you do, just wanting to throw some objectivity in here. I'm sure people may not think they are doing spam-like activity, so I will check the thresholds.

It happens to me when I make a single image post to the site (or at least flash files; I don't upload a lot). Definitely doesn't have to be a repetitive task.

FWIW my tag queuer still succeeds here, and it really only alternates between two E621 API calls: post/show.json (to get current tags, and post/update.xml to update them.

It includes a pause of (10+1d14) seconds before actually POSTing an update, so this may account for why -- without that delay, it used to frequently fall over.

Hey folks -

I'm looking into this, and would appreciate some specific error reports from people.

If you encounter this, please send me an email to [email protected] with the following information:

1) Your username on e621
2) a brief description of what you were doing (uploading an image, replying to a forum post, etc)
3) When this last happened before now (if applicable)
4) your IP address (try going to www.whatismyip.com)
5) Your browser and operating system
6) the EXACT TIME in PST (or GMT, please tell me which!) the captcha occured
7) If the site did what it was supposed to once you successfully completed the captcha.

I'm going to dig into things a bit further and see if I can pull logs and see exactly why it's prompting people to enter the captcha.

Thank you!

Varka

Actually it does that constantly if use is on G3 network or is behind proxy or is using TOR.. in last case Cloudflare often just pretends to wok: there is capcha and text for admin, but no edit line to enter text on capcha image, lol.

This really suck becaus all mobile providers in central europe and russia use proxies. Also it's impossible to connect without TOR browser.

For a week I couldn't login, was just getting unsolvable capchas

How nasty are the captchas here? I know some are warped to all getout where even a human can't read it, but then some are only slightly wobbly so that a parrot could understand it.

The only captchas I get are house numbers from something like google street view.

And that is only on stuff where I want to upload a forum post with ~25k characters in it.

Change your provider, I have no problems with Vodafone.
Or get out of russia, they block the site on principle.
