Topic: [APPROVED] Tag alias: pregnant_belly -> pregnant

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #50739 pregnant_belly -> pregnant has been approved.

Reason: Doesn't it seem kind of redundant to have a pregnant tag and a pregnant_belly tag? I would think having the pregnant tag on a post would already imply the character has a "pregnant_belly".

Unless someone can pin down a really good reason for keeping this tag I don't really see why it should be a thing. The only valid reason I could think is to differentiate between other things a pregnant belly could be confused for like vore, inflation, food belly, etc. But we don't have unique tags for any of those so I don't really see what this tag offers that the pregnant tag doesn't already do.

It also doesn't really help that the tag doesn't have a wiki page to clarify its use.

EDIT: The tag alias pregnant_belly -> pregnant (forum #304255) has been approved by @Millcore.

I'm unsure about aliasing away pregnant_belly, since there are cases where a character can be pregnant without having a visibly pregnant_belly (such as a character with a positive pregnancy_test).

Though I do see your point, as in there aren't any other similar/unusual *_belly tags that are currently utilized. With that it mind, it could make sense to alias away pregnant_belly in order to prevent other *_belly tags from emerging for things like inflation or food.

But that logic only goes against aliasing, if somebody were trying to alias pregnant to pregnant_belly. While true that a character can be pregnant without having a pregnant belly, Recursion's logic that a character can't have a pregnant belly without being pregnant, is 100% correct.

I was thinking that it could be better to implicate pregnant_belly -> pregnant instead of aliasing pregnant_belly -> pregnant. I was thinking that folks could utilize the pregnant_belly tag to search for fringe cases, where a character is pregnant but doesn't have a pregnant_belly visible within the post.

But if folks aren't interested about searching for these fringe cases, it may be better to alias pregnant_belly away.

Well, the big_belly tag exists and is frequently intended to be used in conjunction with the pregnant tag to more or less the same effect for years now.

The tag as it stands right now doesn't have a whole lot of use other than being more or less a second pregnant tag. As in its current vague state it serves no real purpose, since a pregnant belly can be small or it can be quite large. In this situation the pregnant tag is just as effective of a descriptor.

Unless someone can figure out a genuine niche for the tag to fill I just see it as a needless complication.

Yeah, I might change my vote as this alias receives more votes. So far it seems like folks aren't too concerned about any potential fringe cases.
