Topic: Inherent cub implications of certain kinds of Pokemon?

Posted under Off Topic

This is not an attempt to suggest official site policy or criticize existing policy. Just thinking out loud at the void.

Lately, I've been thinking about, like, Baby Pokemon and Pokemon whose names have some kind of reference to some kind of young (under)age (Cubchoo, Totodile, Litten etc.). Should those be considered implicitly underage? The creators clearly intend them to be either portrayed as not yet fully matured or be associated with childhood in some way. Even in the absence of an explicit "this is a child" tag of some sort, would porn of them inherently be considered underage furry porn? Or is that not sufficient for that? Is "those Pokemon can still be adults, and shouldn't be associated with childhood unless there's a clear reference to age elsewhere" reasonable?

This might be already chewed up as a topic, but it only started picking at my brain recently.

Since porn is not canon, there are no rules. If you want, you could draw a Riolu like this post #2705566 or a Munchlax like this post #908646. The names are irrelevant as well, since Cubchoo is literally just bearchoo in Japanese, and I'm sure many people don't even realize Totodile contains "tot" (I went years without knowing that). If we're going off of canon, a pichu could very well be a level 100 adult holding an Everstone. I recommend not overthinking porn.

It'd have to be a lore tag to mark yes or no on that front, otherwise this same logic could also be applied to Digimon as well... and that end of shit gets even more what the fuck and complicated, given the reincarnation and devolution thing.

In relation first-stage evolutions like totodile, the stage of evolution is completely separate of the age of the Pokemon as well. Canonically in the anime, there's an ELDER Treekco somewhere in its episodes. If an elder Treecko can exist, then a adult age Totodile can exist, and it's honestly dumb to automatically label first-stage evos as cub just because they're small and cutesy and the like. Riolu evolves through friendship, not level, not age or whatever, this logic falls flat when you take actually account to these evo methods. A Riolu can be level 100, or an elder, and never evolve. A "Baby-Stage" Pokemon usually evolves through friendship as well, so they wouldn't "age" unless they get that friendship which doesn't make much sense.

Basically yeah, don't overthink it, it just doesn't work and you'll only hurt yourself.

"Baby stage" is just Pokemon's way of saying "Oh hey we decided to have an earlier stage now but since it wasn't original we'll make it only available through a held item when breeding." They're still the same thing as first stage.
